Yamashiro Onsen Kosōyu
Kosōyu is easy to mistake for a full-service bathhouse. It makes more sense as a historic Meiji-era bathing experience, with the tourism association explicitly describing it as source-flowing.
Check before bathing
- Opening hours
- Usually 06:00–22:00; December through February, 07:00–21:00. On the fourth Wednesday of each month, closed from 06:00 to 12:00 and reopens at noon.
- Tattoo policy
- The facility's current first-party information does not confirm a tattoo policy. Check with the bathhouse before visiting.

- The Yamashiro Onsen Tourism Association describes Kosōyu as source-flowing. The bathhouse recreates the Meiji-era practice of bathing without washing facilities. Bathing indications
Yamashiro Onsen lists general bathing indications, including those associated with sulfate springs. This is not personal medical advice or a promise of a cure.
The tourism association explicitly describes Kosōyu as source-flowing. Other water-treatment details are not published bath by bath.
There are no taps or showers, and soap and shampoo are not allowed. This is a soak-and-culture experience, not a place for a full wash.
How to read a bath profile
Spring-source temperature and actual bathing temperature are kept separate. Each score is shown independently for comparison rather than collapsed into one overall score.
