Towels are available to rent or buy for an additional charge.

At Hananoyu, day use is closed on Tuesdays and Fridays. Admission covers the indoor bath and riverside outdoor bath, though cleaning can affect availability. Children aged 3 through elementary school pay ¥700; younger children are not listed in the standard day-use fare.

When privacy matters

The two private baths have different schedules. Hananoyu takes advance reservations in three one-hour slots during its day-use window. Shika-otome no Yu is seasonal and open on selected weekends and holidays; its operator notes that hours can vary. Check availability directly before travelling.

Which bath suits your day?

The Akiu Public Bath suits a quick, inexpensive indoor soak. It is a local bathhouse rather than a resort, so bring your toiletries or buy what you need there; towels and soap are listed separately.

Akiu Onsen and the surrounding hills in autumn

Ichitaro no Yu is an easy half-day pairing: soak in the hinoki-lined indoor bath, use the outdoor baths overlooking the garden, then take the included garden walk. Last admission is one hour before closing; seasonal hours may differ.

Hananoyu suits visitors who want a ryokan bath during a short daytime window. Cleaning can affect which baths are open; private-use costs are listed above.

Shika-otome no Yu has a private outdoor bath, changing room and shower room. Its weekend-only season makes it a poor fit for a weekday visit.

Check the schedule on the day

The Akiu Onsen Tourism Information Centre’s directory, checked 19 September 2026, lists the public bath at 7:30 am–8 pm and closed on the fourth Wednesday. Ichitaro no Yu notes seasonal hours. Hananoyu may change day-use availability during special periods.

Use the last-admission time rather than closing time when planning your visit. The garden, soba restaurant and seasonal facilities keep separate hours.
