Nami no Yu Akane or YUASOBI? Two Private Baths in Obama

These two private baths sit beside the same stretch of Obama waterfront, but they suit different plans. Nami no Yu Akane puts an open-air tub almost level with Tachibana Bay; YUASOBI keeps you indoors with a hot-spring steam sauna and cold plunge. The practical choice is whether the sea view matters enough to accept weather-related cancellations, or whether a longer, sheltered session sounds better.

Both draw on Obama Onsen, whose famous high source temperature is a feature of the district—not a reading for either bathing tub. Neither facility publishes a comparable tub-temperature figure.

Akane puts the bay right beside the bath

At high tide, the local inn association says the sea can come within about 20 cm of the bath’s level. The view is the point, but this is an exposed, open-air setting: the operator may stop bathing during rough weather, high waves, spring tides or high water, and says it will contact guests if conditions make a visit unsafe. Keep a little flexibility in your Obama plans, especially if the bath is the reason for the trip.

Book through YUASOBI, either the day before or on the day. Akane’s operator lists opening hours as 10 am–11 pm, with reception ending at 10 pm; it does not take credit cards or store valuables. Towels are not provided, though shampoo is allowed. If you are travelling by bus, leave time to change and walk back after your reservation rather than planning around the bath slot alone.

YUASOBI is the sheltered choice for a slower visit

All six rooms have a private bath, hot-spring steam sauna and cold plunge; the tubs differ in shape. YUASOBI uses a coin-operated fill system, so the bath is drawn when you are ready rather than kept full between guests. The indoor setting removes Akane’s sea-condition uncertainty. Towels are sold on site, and shampoo, conditioner, body wash and a hair dryer are provided. The association lists opening hours until 11 pm, with the last booking at 10 pm.

Choose it when your group wants both a soak and time in the steam sauna, or when an outdoor bath feels too weather-dependent. One room is identified as wheelchair-adapted and must be reserved; the notice does not specify doorway widths, step heights or transfer support, so contact the facility about the details you need. YUASOBI is roughly a five-minute walk from the bus terminal, though you should still check the return timetable before choosing a late booking.

Which one fits your day?

Akane is the more specific experience: a short private soak with the bay at eye level, best when the forecast and tide look calm. YUASOBI offers a longer indoor booking with a steam sauna and cold plunge, which gives a group more to do without relying on sea conditions. Confirm the available room and final rate when you book, since YUASOBI lists prices as starting rates.
