Kuramae Onsen Sarasanoyu in Sakai: Spring-Water Details, Prices and a Half-Day Plan

Sarasanoyu in Sakai has a 52.2°C sodium-chloride source, alternating men’s and women’s floors, and a separate stone sauna. Tattoos are not accepted.

Sarasanoyu is easiest to justify when you can give it more than a quick soak. The facility is open 9 a.m.–2 a.m., with final bathing admission at 1 a.m.; its source details are unusually clear for an Osaka-area day bath. The official analysis identifies a sodium-chloride spring from 1,350 metres underground, with a source temperature of 52.2°C and a flow rate of 720 litres per minute.

Those are measurements at the source, not the temperature or flow rate of every tub. The facility identifies the rock bath using its “Saikonoyu” source as the natural-spring centrepiece. Do not extend the flow-through claim to every pool: the building also has carbonated, silk, stone, reclining, cooler, children’s and electric baths, and the public material does not document the treatment of each one. Start with the source-fed rock bath if spring water is your main reason for coming; the rest of the lineup is a separate reason to stay longer.

Budget the visit before adding the stone sauna

Ticket or serviceWeekdayWeekend / public holidayConditions

Child bath admission¥400¥450For children aged three and up.

Child stone-sauna add-on¥200¥200An accompanying adult must use the area; children are limited to the designated room.

Baths open at 9 a.m.; last admission is 1 a.m., and the facility closes at 2 a.m. Restaurant service is listed from 10:30 a.m. to 2 a.m., with last orders at 1 a.m. Re-entry to the baths is allowed while you remain inside the building. Leaving the facility means paying admission again. The rest areas close with the building and are not overnight accommodation.

The stone-sauna area is better suited to a longer stop that leaves time for the baths, stone rooms and a meal. With only an hour or so, the source bath and washing facilities may be enough; the add-on is optional, not part of the basic ticket.

Check which floor will be open to you

The men’s and women’s floors alternate by weekday, not by month. On Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, men use Floor 1 and women Floor 2. On Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, the arrangement switches. The two floors have different bath and sauna layouts, so check the day’s arrangement if you are coming for a particular room rather than just the spring bath.

One side’s aroma loyly sessions are listed at 10:30 a.m., 12:30, 2:30, 4:30, 6:30, 8:30 and 10:30 p.m. If you want to catch one, plan around that schedule and the floor assignment for the day. Prefer a quieter sauna? Avoid the more popular event slots; if the aroma session is the point of your visit, do the opposite and time your arrival for it.

Admission does not include every service. Shampoo, conditioner and body wash are supplied in the bathing area, but towels are not. The facility explicitly refuses entry to guests with tattoos, including stickers or paint. Children under middle-school age need an adult; unaccompanied guests under 16 must leave by 7 p.m., and those under 18 by 10 p.m.

Getting there from Osaka or around Sakai

Sarasanoyu is in Kuramae-cho, Kita Ward, Sakai—not central Osaka. The official access page lists a 10-minute walk from JR Sakaishi Station, or about 15 minutes from either Kitahanada or Shinkanaoka on the Midosuji Line. By car, there are 145 spaces; facility users can get up to eight hours free on weekdays or five hours on weekends and holidays after completing the reception process.

The parking offer is tied to using the facility and finishing the reception procedure; it is not unlimited free parking for the day. If you plan to leave the car after bathing and head elsewhere, check the overstay charge before doing so. Without a car, choose the station that best fits where you are coming from: the JR Sakaishi walk is shorter, while the two Midosuji stations involve a longer walk.

This is a full-service bath with family spaces, so the atmosphere will depend on who is there that day. If a quieter soak matters, check the facility’s live crowd link before leaving and consider a weekday morning.

For a shorter comparison of larger Osaka-area day baths, see the Osaka day-onsen guide. Sarasanoyu is the better fit when Sakai is already on your route and you can use the source bath, meal facilities or stone-sauna area as part of a longer stop.

If you are comparing natural-spring day baths, also see Tsurumi Ryokuchi Yukemuri no Sato Suisyun and Spa Suminoye. Sarasanoyu is unusually transparent about its spring analysis; its trade-offs are the trip south, the no-tattoo rule and the fact that only the designated source bath is documented as flow-through.

Before leaving, check which bath floor is assigned to your gender that day, whether the sauna event schedule suits you, and whether any maintenance or last-entry notice has changed the plan. If travelling with children, account for the supervision and evening curfew rules as well as the ticket price.
