Shin Asahi Onsen in Osaka’s Takakuracho Neighbourhood
Shin Asahi Onsen closes at 11:30 p.m. and has dry and steam saunas, soft-water showers and a radon bath; no natural spring is documented.
The neighbourhood is the main reason to choose this one. If you are staying around Takakuracho, Tomobuchi or the Jōhoku-Kōen-dōri area, Shin Asahi has more variety than a basic wash-and-soak sento without requiring a trip into central Osaka. From farther away, the bus connection and early closing time may outweigh the extra bath options.
What is there besides the main bath?
The current bathhouse-association listing includes both a dry sauna and a steam sauna, plus a cold bath, electric bath, radon bath, soft-water bath and showers. The shower and clinic bath are specifically described as using soft water. That is a water-treatment feature; the facility does not publish a natural-spring analysis, so the word “Onsen” in its name should not be read as proof of a hot spring.
An outdoor bath is not listed in the current equipment information. If an open-air bath or documented spring water is a must, pick another facility rather than relying on photos of similarly named baths elsewhere in Japan.
The two saunas give you a choice of dry heat or a more humid steam room. The association does not publish a current surcharge, so the Osaka adult sento fare of ¥600 is the dependable starting point, not a guaranteed sauna-inclusive total. User-posted readings for sauna or cold-water temperatures are snapshots from particular visits, not fixed specifications.
Elementary-school children pay ¥200 and younger children ¥100 at the standard public-bath rate. The association does not list complimentary shampoo or soap, so bring your own or ask what can be purchased at the counter. The radon-labelled bath is another functional tub, not evidence of a naturally occurring radioactive spring. No verified source analysis, pH, spring temperature or flow rate is published for this facility.
Getting there and choosing the right day
Shin Asahi is at 3-7-3 Takakuracho, Miyakojima Ward. The association’s route is Osaka Metro Tanimachi Line to Miyakojima, then a bus to Takakuracho 3-chome and about a two-minute walk. JR Jōhoku-Kōen-dōri is another option shown by current map listings, roughly a six-minute walk; check your route on the day. There is one free parking space, so do not count on it being available.
Hours are 2–11:30 p.m. The regular closing day is Monday, plus the third Tuesday of each month; when a listed closing day falls on a public holiday, the association says the following day is the closure. Check the calendar before a Tuesday visit.
There is a lobby with a large television for a short sit after bathing. It is a neighbourhood rest area, not an overnight room, luggage desk or lounge for spending half a day.
If your plans run later, Yūderurando Miyako is listed open until 12:30 a.m. For other baths in the ward, see the Miyakojima sento guide.
The lobby has a large television and works for a short sit after your bath, but it is not a nap room or an overnight option. The facility’s editorial snapshot scores comfort 80/100, bath variety 85, upkeep 75, atmosphere 55, quiet 65, access 70 and value 90; these are guide judgments, not inspection grades.
Choose Shin Asahi for the local two-sauna setup, soft-water washing and Takakuracho bus/walk route. If you need a later close, Yūderurando is open until 12:30 a.m. If a natural spring is essential, choose a bathhouse with published spring analysis.
