Aomori’s city-centre baths cluster around the station, but Koyanagi, Tsutsui, Higashi-Aomori, Tomita and the western neighbourhoods have local baths of their own. They are practical stops if you are staying nearby or travelling by local rail and bus.

Hours, prices and reopening information were checked against the cited sources on September 27, 2026. Smaller bathhouses sometimes change their schedules, so check with the facility before making a special trip.

Pick by neighborhood and timing

Staying near Koyanagi or Higashi-Aomori? Koyanagi Onsen is the simplest rail-accessible local option: around seven minutes on foot from Koyanagi Station, with a bus stop closer by. Hamadate Main Bath is another possibility if you are nearer Higashi-Aomori Station.

Near Tsutsui? Toku-no-Yu is about five minutes from Tsutsui Station. Its Sunday opening is two hours earlier than on other days, which can make it useful before a day out.

Need an early soak on the west side? Okidate Onsen opens at 5:45. Demachi Onsen opens at 6:00 and stays open until 23:00, making it the better fit for a late return.

Want a bathhouse with more than one kind of tub? Flower Onsen Yaeda combines its natural spring with artificial carbonated water, a radium-mineral bath, footbath and sauna. The artificial baths are separate features; they do not change the classification of the natural spring.

Curious about a newly revived neighborhood bath? Daifuku Onsen resumed business on June 25, 2026, after being closed since September 2023. Its new operating hours and admission differ from pre-closure listings.

Staying near JR Aomori Station? Unless you specifically want a neighborhood bath, there is little reason to cross town: Aomori Machinaka Onsen is a natural spring and much easier to reach.

Koyanagi Onsen: an easy rail-side neighborhood bath

Koyanagi Onsen is one of the more practical local baths for visitors without a car. It is about a seven-minute walk from Koyanagi Station on the Aoimori Railway, and the nearest bus stop is closer still.

The spring is classified as a calcium-sodium sulphate spring. Aomori’s tourism association lists a mix of fresh-flowing and recirculated water. Recent facility listings describe baths at different temperatures, an electric bath, sauna and cold plunge. Having several temperature options can help if you prefer shorter soaks to sitting in one very hot tub.

Toku-no-Yu Onsen: the Tsutsui Station connection

At roughly five minutes on foot from Tsutsui Station, Toku-no-Yu is a useful choice when you are staying on the eastern side of town. Aomori’s tourism association classifies it as a simple spring with flowing water and lists a sauna, cold plunge and utase-yu—a shower of falling water used to rinse the shoulders and back.

Adult admission is listed at ¥530; an older tourism page still shows ¥420.

Hours are 11:30–22:00 on weekdays and holidays, and 9:30–22:00 on Sundays. The bath has a regular weekly closing day, so confirm it is open before setting out.

Okidate Onsen: a 5:45 start

Okidate Onsen opens at 5:45 and closes at 22:00. Adult admission is listed at ¥530. A June 2026 visit record also describes a cooler source-water tub, a sauna and a cold plunge.

The same record transcribes the source as “Okidate Onsen No. 2,” at 43.1°C and pH 7.57. These figures come from information displayed at the facility, not a newly published analysis sheet; treat them as a dated field note.

The practical draw here is the early opening, not a sightseeing atmosphere.

Demachi Onsen: late hours on the west side

Demachi Onsen is listed as a simple hot spring with flowing water. It opens 6:00–23:00 and closes on January 1.

Adult admission is listed at ¥530. An older Aomori Onsen-do schedule showed ¥480 before the July 2026 increase; confirm the posted fare when you arrive.

For visitors staying west of central Aomori or around Nishitaki, the late closing time is the main advantage. It is a straightforward bath rather than a spa complex.

Flower Onsen Hamadate Main Bath: check the posted price

Hamadate Main Bath is around a ten-minute walk from Higashi-Aomori Station. Aomori’s tourism association describes it as a natural hot spring and classifies the water as a sulphate spring, with both flowing and recirculated water. An older analysis lists 47.0°C and pH 7.42, but dates to 2008; those should not be presented as current readings.

Flower Onsen Yaeda: natural spring and artificial baths

Yaeda’s natural water is classified by Aomori’s tourism association as a simple hot spring, with a combination of flowing and recirculated water. The facility also has an artificial carbonated bath, a bath using radium-bearing mineral material, a footbath, sauna and cold plunge. Those are separate bathing features; the natural source itself should not be called a “radium spring” or “carbonated spring.”

A recent listing describes some cooler-water and footbath areas as closer to a fresh-flow setup, while the large bath uses heating and recirculation. No current bath-by-bath water-flow chart is available, so the whole facility cannot be described as 100% free-flowing.

Daifuku Onsen: reopened in June 2026

Daifuku Onsen had been closed since September 2023 and reopened under a new operating team on June 25, 2026. Its pre-closure schedule—such as an 8:30 Sunday opening or a noon opening on other days—and old ¥400 admission are no longer useful planning details.

An August 2026 ATV report also describes a standard tub, a reclining bath and a multi-seat sitting bath. The Aomori no Yūkko Association announced the reopening. Confirm the schedule before visiting.

Taki-no-Yu: a smaller, hotter bath in Chayamachi

Taki-no-Yu is in Chayamachi and is listed at 13:00–21:00, with a regular closing day, and ¥530 adult admission. Aomori’s tourism association classifies the spring as simple hot-spring water, with both flowing and recirculated supply. It lists an outdoor bath and utase-yu cascade shower. The water is described as hot, and the bath is smaller in scale than the city’s larger spa facilities.

The trade-offs are clear: it opens later, parking is limited to around six cars in the available local information, and it is not a large facility beside a railway station. The Sakaemachi-itchome bus stop is nearby, so it can still work if you are already on the east side of town.

Places to leave off your itinerary for now

Aburakawa Onsen: marked closed, reopening date unknown

Some directories still retain ordinary hours of 14:00–21:00 and weekly closing days for Aburakawa Onsen. The 2026 Aomori Onsen-do page, however, says it is closed, with no reopening date announced, and that the stamp is not required to complete the route during the closure. Tarapokki Onsen: closed because the source temperature fell

The Aomori no Yūkko Association says Tarapokki Onsen is closed because the water temperature dropped; Aomori’s tourism association also labels it temporarily closed. Before closing, it was listed as a 100% flowing-water public bath with chloride and bicarbonate springs and drinking-water information. Its former 8:00–22:00 hours and ¥420 admission should not be used to plan a visit.

Aomori Kenko Land: permanently closed

The Aomori no Yūkko Association lists Aomori Kenko Land as having closed on March 1, 2026. Older maps and articles may still show its former hours, but it is no longer an option for a bath stop. This is a permanent closure, unlike the two facilities above, whose pages describe current closures without confirming a permanent end to business.

How to read spring and water-flow details

Neighborhood bath information often circulates online long after the original analysis was issued. For example, the Hamadate Main Bath analysis with 47.0°C and pH 7.42 dates to 2008; Okidate’s 43.1°C and pH 7.57 are transcribed in a 2026 visit record; and Yaeda listings repeat a 33.3°C source-water figure. These are useful context, but not necessarily current official measurements. Source conditions can change after a new analysis, well work, mixing or pump repairs.

“Kakenagashi” means fresh spring water flows into a bath and overflows instead of being fully recirculated. A facility may use flow-through water in one tub and recirculation in another; a mixed listing applies to those specific baths, not necessarily to the whole facility.

Which neighborhood bath is cheapest?

Among the facilities covered here, the 2026 report lists Daifuku Onsen at ¥500 for adults, while Hamadate Main Bath is listed at ¥480 by a current bath directory. Confirm both at the entrance. If you include the wider city, Namioka’s Popeye Onsen is listed at ¥350 for adults in 2026, but it is well outside the central neighborhoods.

Which ones are easiest without a car?

Koyanagi Onsen, Toku-no-Yu Onsen and Flower Onsen Hamadate Main Bath have the clearest rail connections: they are near Koyanagi, Tsutsui and Higashi-Aomori stations respectively. For other baths, check bus routes and return times before you go.

Is Aburakawa Onsen open?

The 2026 Aomori Onsen-do page marks it closed with no reopening date. Use that status instead of old directory hours, and check for a new operator or association notice before visiting.

Why is Tarapokki Onsen closed?

The Aomori no Yūkko Association says the source temperature fell. Previous water-quality details and hours are historical until the facility announces a reopening.

Has Daifuku Onsen reopened?

Yes. It reopened on June 25, 2026. A local August 2026 report lists hours of 10:00–21:30, closing days on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and adult admission of ¥500.

Does every bath called “Onsen” use natural hot-spring water?

No. The word “onsen” in a name does not establish that a bath uses natural hot-spring water. This article identifies a natural spring only where a cited facility or tourism source does so. Artificial carbonated and mineral-material baths are separate features.

Choose by where you are staying

Around Koyanagi or Higashi-Aomori, start with Koyanagi Onsen or Hamadate Main Bath; near Tsutsui Station, Toku-no-Yu is the easiest walk. From Tomita or the west side of Aomori, Okidate is the early-opening choice and Demachi stays open latest. Yaeda has the broadest mix of artificial baths, while Daifuku is the recently reopened neighborhood bath. If you are staying by JR Aomori Station and simply want an easy soak, Machinaka Onsen is closer than any of these detours.
