Staying at Seifuso in Awara Onsen: Baths, Day Use and What to Check

See what an overnight at Seifuso includes, how its ¥1,500 day bath differs, and when to reserve the free shuttle from JR Awaraonsen Station.

Seifuso is a good fit for a night built around the inn rather than a quick stop to bathe. The large garden open-air bath is its signature feature, and staying over gives you time to use the main bath after check-in, return after dinner and—if the schedule allows—come back in the morning. A day visitor gets a shorter window and a more limited choice of baths.

Which baths are included?

Seifuso lists its spring as sodium-calcium chloride, with a source temperature of 50.1°C. The main garden open-air bath and indoor bath are in the guest building. Overnight guests also have access to Komorebi no Yu, a separate bath with a carbonated-water bath, open-air bath and mist sauna. The sexes switch on a day/night schedule: women are listed from 3pm to midnight and men from 5am to 10am. Check the inn’s current bathing notice when you arrive; those hours and rotations can change.

Day-use bathing is currently listed from 4pm to 8pm for ¥1,500 per adult, with mini and bath towels included. It covers the first-floor main bath and garden open-air bath only, not Komorebi no Yu. The inn says it does not offer day-use bathing on certain holiday periods, full-occupancy days or closure days. No room is included, and payment is cash only. If you are travelling specifically for the bath, check its day-use page first.

Getting there from the station

Seifuso offers a free shuttle from JR Awaraonsen Station, but it must be reserved. The current published pickup times are 2:30, 3, 4 and 5pm; for the return trip, the inn lists 9, 10 and 11am. A shuttle without a reservation will not run, and the inn asks guests to book or change a reservation at least an hour before the service. Confirm the timetable directly if your train is close to the cutoff.

Awara-Yunomachi Station is closer to the hot-spring district, while JR Awaraonsen Station serves the Shinkansen. If you plan to visit Tojinbo first, leave a buffer for the ride back before check-in and dinner. In winter, avoid making the last connection the only thing standing between you and the inn.

A low-key overnight plan

Arrive in the afternoon, settle in and use the garden bath before dinner if it is open to you. There is no need to rush through several baths before the meal; take another soak afterward if you feel like it. In the morning, check the day’s bath rotation and opening time before setting an alarm. If you have an early train, breakfast and the shuttle may leave little room for a long final bath.

The inn is a large property, so room location can affect how much walking you do between the bedroom, dining area and baths. If someone in your party has limited mobility, is sensitive to noise or needs an early night, ask about room placement and the route to the bath before booking. Reviews can help you decide what to ask, but they describe particular stays rather than a fixed outcome for every room.

For a single soak with no overnight plans, Saintpia Awara is simpler: it is open 10am–11pm, has a last admission at 10:30pm, and currently charges ¥600 for adults. Seifuso’s higher price buys a garden setting and access to the inn’s main bath within a shorter afternoon window. The overnight rate cannot be compared directly without checking the room, meals, date and cancellation terms.
