Hirugami Onsen Day-Use Baths: Which One Fits Your Plans?

Hirugami has no railway station, and the three main day-use baths are not interchangeable. Yuttarina Hirugami is the public bathhouse for a flexible visit, with the longest hours and an optional pool. Hotel Hirugami no Mori charges more for a shorter, date-dependent visit centered on its outdoor bath. Achi-no-Sato Hirugami costs the same as Yuttarina for adults, but closes earlier and has a quieter, inn-based setting. The useful choice comes down to when you arrive and what you want to do after bathing.

Quick comparison

The prices above are the bath-only rates. Bring swimwear only if you plan to use a pool: those charges and opening dates are separate from ordinary admission. For any facility, check its notice page before setting out; Hirugami’s inn baths can close on additional dates or limit access for private use.

Yuttarina: the easiest fit for a longer visit

Yuttarina has the longest day-use window in the area, leaving room for lunch, a bath and a second stop without rushing toward a late-afternoon closing.

The bathing area includes a sauna, reclining and seated baths, a jet-style waterfall shower and outdoor baths. The east and west layouts alternate by day; the west-side outdoor area has stone, barrel-shaped and ceramic tubs. A heated pool and walking pool are part of the wider complex, but need a separate ticket.

Pool opening dates are limited, so check the schedule before planning around a swim.

This is also the strongest option to investigate first if a companion needs bathing assistance. Hirugami’s accessibility guide lists step-free routes to the main bath and dining area, handrails, and a lift-equipped private family bath. The rest area has a 16-centimetre step, and the bath rim is 11 centimetres high. The family bath requires advance booking.

Yuttarina closes on Tuesdays. When Tuesday is a public holiday, the closure moves to Wednesday. Its admission rate does not include pool access, and pool operating dates are limited; confirm both before paying if swimming is part of the plan.

Hirugami no Mori: pay more for the hotel’s outdoor setting

Hotel Hirugami no Mori has a shorter day-use window than Yuttarina, and its early openings are date-specific.

The September dates are an exception, not the regular weekend schedule. Check the notice for your visit date.

The main draw is the hotel’s large indoor bath and outdoor bath, with a hillside setting. The published spring type is alkaline simple hot spring, pH 9.7. That pH describes the facility’s stated spring classification; it is not a reading of every pool’s bathing temperature. In winter, the hotel limits outdoor-bath hours to the afternoon and evening, and its day-use page notes that unscheduled closures can be added.

Pool access is a separate, seasonal option, and towels are charged separately.

Guests with tattoos are not admitted, and the hotel also excludes intoxicated visitors. The ¥200 adult premium over Yuttarina buys a hotel-style outdoor bath, but the shorter opening window leaves less time for other activities.

Achi-no-Sato: same adult price as Yuttarina, earlier finish

Achi-no-Sato has the same adult admission as Yuttarina and closes earlier.

The bath layout includes a broad indoor pool, an outdoor bath and an herbal bath. The inn classifies the water as an alkaline simple sulfur spring and says it uses the spring without dilution. Soap, shampoo, conditioner and hair dryers are provided. Towels are sold, not included: a hand towel costs ¥200 and a bath towel ¥600. An adult buying both would spend ¥1,600 in total before transport; bringing towels keeps the visit at the ¥800 admission rate.

Towels are sold separately, so bringing your own keeps the visit at the ¥800 adult admission rate. The last published winter notice suspended the outdoor and herbal baths from January 13 through March 6, 2026, for weather and safety reasons; that period has ended. Check the next winter schedule. The inn’s access page lists only a few local-bus trips each day, so confirm the last connection before choosing it for a no-car outing.

No train station, and only a few bus departures

Hirugami is reached by road or bus; there is no local rail station. Since September 1, 2026, the Iida–Nakatsugawa sightseeing bus has stopped at Hirugami Onsen twice a day in each direction. The flat fare is ¥1,500 per person, and the trial service pauses every year from December 1 through March 19. Same-day boarding is possible only when seats remain; online booking closes the day before. It is a useful daytime connection, not an evening return after the star tour.

The operator lists the stop as Hirugami Kukan-mae. Check the walk or taxi to your chosen bath instead of assuming the bus serves its front door. The separate Matsumoto direct bus is for guests staying at participating Hirugami accommodations and is sold as a round trip; it is not a general day-use shuttle.

Tattoo rules are not uniform across the three. Hirugami no Mori explicitly excludes guests with tattoos; the public pages for Yuttarina and Achi-no-Sato do not state a comparable policy. Contact either facility before travelling if this affects your choice.

If the Tenku no Rakuen Night Tour is part of the plan, bathe first. On September 27, 2026, the tour is in a scheduled maintenance break through October 9; when operating, the program ends around 9 p.m. Yuttarina’s last entry is 8:30, while Achi-no-Sato and Hirugami no Mori stop admissions earlier. A simple way to choose

Choose Yuttarina if you need late hours, a pool option or published bathing-assistance facilities. Pick Hirugami no Mori for an outdoor bath at an inn, provided its narrower schedule works for your date. Achi-no-Sato is a good match for an earlier visit when an herbal bath appeals and you are happy to bring towels.
