Gokurakuyu Miyazaki Sauna: Automatic Löyly, Cold Bath and Late Hours
Check Gokurakuyu Miyazaki’s automatic löyly, cold bath, ¥800 admission and 1 a.m. closing; its natural-spring pool is heated and treated.
Checked: September 28, 2026
Gokurakuyu works particularly well if you are staying around Miyazaki Station and do not want to fit your evening around a hotel bath’s shorter day-use window. The sauna is part of the regular bathing admission, and the late closing time leaves room for a visit after dinner. Its value is the complete sauna circuit and timing, rather than an untreated source-water soak.
The sauna circuit
The sauna room has tiered seating, so the upper and lower levels offer different heat. The operator does not publish a fixed room temperature. Both men’s and women’s sauna rooms have had automatic löyly since May 2025; the current facility page says it starts about once every 30 minutes. Treat that as an approximate interval, not a posted minute-by-minute timetable.
A cold bath is listed alongside the sauna. Afterward, the outdoor area provides room to cool down; it includes an open-air rock bath and a hinoki bath. This makes a simple circuit possible: sauna, cold bath, then a break outside before deciding whether to repeat it. The outdoor pools are not individually identified as natural-spring baths on the current facility page.
There is also a heated-stone rest space called “Onkōseki no Ma.” The operator explicitly says it is not a ganbanyoku stone sauna, so do not expect a separate bedrock-bath session as part of the ticket.
What the admission covers

| Adult admission | ¥800 |
| Children aged 3 and over | ¥450 |
| Children aged 2 and under | Free |

| Last entry | 12:20 a.m. |

| Station access | About a 10-minute walk from JR Miyazaki Station |
Shampoo, conditioner and body wash are provided. Towels are not included, though a small towel and a rental bath towel are each ¥250. Bring what you need or add the rental set to your budget. The main bath page lists sauna facilities as part of the bathing area and does not show a separate sauna ticket.
Children under 12 are asked not to use the sauna for safety reasons. The facility also refuses entry to guests with tattoos; its posted rule does not list a cover-up exception. Keep both points in mind if you are visiting as a family or need a tattoo-friendly bath.
The spring pool is only one part of the facility
The indoor “Shizen no Yu” is explicitly identified as a natural hot-spring pool. The published spring analysis gives a source temperature of 25.5°C and flow of 18 litres per minute. That is not the temperature you should expect in the bath: the operator says it heats and dilutes the water, circulates and filters it, and uses chlorine-based disinfectant.
The site describes the sauna, cold bath and outdoor pools separately. It does not say that every pool receives the same spring water. If your priority is a documented source bath at its natural temperature, compare Konohana no Yu’s 32.7°C source bath; for a quick overview of the city’s different bathing options, use the Miyazaki City day-use onsen guide.
When this is the useful choice
Choose Gokurakuyu if you want a late soak within walking distance of the station, an ordinary sauna with cold-water cooldown, or an early weekend bath before setting out. It is less suited to a quiet, small-bath atmosphere, a strict untreated-flow preference, a visit with children who want to use the sauna, or anyone who needs a facility that permits tattoos.
Before leaving, check the operator’s notices for same-day maintenance or schedule changes. The listed last entry is 12:20 a.m., which leaves little time for a full sauna circuit if you arrive at the cutoff.
