Day-Use Onsen in Miyazaki City: Three Baths, Three Different Trips
Compare Tamayura no Yu, Gokurakuyu and Konohana no Yu by route, opening hours and spring-water use around Miyazaki City.
These three baths cover quite different parts of the city. A hotel bath along the Oyodo River, a large late-night facility by the station, and a municipal bath south of town are not interchangeable—even though each uses natural spring water somewhere in its bathing area.
| Bath | Adult admission | Current day-use hours | The practical distinction |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tamayura no Yu, Miyazaki Kanko Hotel | ¥1,200; towel ¥150 extra | 3:00–10:00 p.m.; last entry 9:30 | Natural spring water is used in the outdoor bath, not the indoor bath; tattoos are prohibited |
| Gokurakuyu Miyazaki | ¥800 | 9:00 a.m.–1:00 a.m.; weekends and holidays from 7:00 a.m.; last entry 12:20 a.m. | Natural spring pool, sauna and cold bath near the station; spring water is heated, diluted, circulated and disinfected |
| Konohana no Yu | ¥500; ¥400 for children through junior high | 10:00 a.m.–9:00 p.m.; last entry 8:30; Tuesdays closed | A 32.7°C source bath and a heated, flowing main bath; easiest by car from the southern city/Aoshima side |
For an evening in central Miyazaki: Tamayura no Yu
Tamayura no Yu is inside Miyazaki Kanko Hotel on the Oyodo River. Only the open-air bath uses the spring; the indoor bath is not a hot-spring bath. The hotel classifies it as a weakly alkaline sodium-chloride spring containing iodine. It does not publish a source temperature.

The hotel is about a 20-minute walk from Miyazaki Station. It makes more sense after time by the river or Tachibana Park than as a quick station stop. Tattoos are not permitted.
Near Miyazaki Station and open late: Gokurakuyu
Gokurakuyu is the late-closing option of the three, close to Miyazaki Station.

The operator identifies “Shizen no Yu” as the natural hot-spring bath. Its analysis lists a source temperature of 25.5°C and flow of 18 litres a minute. The spring is heated and diluted, then circulated, filtered and disinfected with a chlorine-based product. The listing does not identify the other pools as spring-water baths. Shampoo and body wash are supplied; tattoos and tattoo stickers are not allowed.
Head south for a low-temperature source bath: Konohana no Yu
Konohana no Yu is at the Miyazaki City Nature Recreation Centre in Kaeda, south of central Miyazaki. Its current listing is cheaper than the other two, and the site has parking for 200 cars.

The source bath uses the spring at its natural temperature, listed as 32.7°C. The larger bath is heated and supplied with flowing spring water. A 2019 prefectural analysis recorded 32.5°C, pH 8.22 and a sodium-chloride/bicarbonate spring; the operator’s current facility page gives 32.7°C for the source bath. The two temperatures come from different records.
The sauna information conflicts: the city page lists a steam sauna for men and a dry sauna for women, while the operator’s page reverses them. Confirm with the facility if sauna type affects your choice. Bus service is less frequent than on central routes, so check the timetable before building an Aoshima-side trip around it.
Choose by the part of town and the hour you actually have. For another city-and-coast comparison, see Aoshima Onsen without a car.
