Suzuran Onsen in Sekime: An Early-Opening Sento with Two Cold Baths

Suzuran Onsen opens 6 a.m.–1 a.m. near two Sekime stations, with two cold baths, a dry sauna and 13 parking spaces; it closes the third Thursday.

Bath interior at Suzuran Onsen

Suzuran Onsen is a useful Joto Ward sento when your schedule is awkward. It opens at 6 a.m. and closes at 1 a.m., giving early risers and late returners a wide window. It is closed on the third Thursday of each month. This is not a 24-hour facility, and no last-entry time is published, so leave a margin before closing.

The walk is about five minutes from either Keihan Sekime or Osaka Metro Sekime-Seiiku. The 13-space car park is close to Kyobashi but does not guarantee an available space.

The sauna setup

The Osaka Public Bathhouse Association describes a roomy dry sauna and two cold baths set at different temperatures. That second cold bath is useful if one plunge feels too cold; the association does not publish fixed temperatures, so there is no reliable reason to attach exact Celsius figures. The main baths run hot, a point the operator flags for visitors who prefer hotter water.

Electric and medicinal baths, jet features, massage machines, drinks and a coin laundry are also listed. There is a runner-friendly setup for people who want to leave belongings, run and bathe afterward. You do not need to use the sauna for the visit to make sense. There is no published spring analysis on the current listing, so the word “Onsen” in the name should not be read as confirmation of a natural hot spring.

Suzuran does not publish a full sauna surcharge or towel price. Ask at the front desk before using the sauna.

The bath is at 4-22-7 Seiiku. It is about a five-minute walk from Keihan Sekime Station and Osaka Metro Sekime-Seiiku Station. Thirteen parking spaces are listed, a helpful amount for a neighbourhood bathhouse, though availability is not guaranteed at busy times.

Suzuran suits someone staying around Sekime, Noe or the eastern side of Kyobashi who wants an early bath, a late closing time or a traditional sauna rather than a large spa complex. For a more modern sauna setup, Utopia Shiratama is known for a deep cold pool, carbonated bath, outdoor rest area and Wi-Fi/coworking. Suzuran’s edge is the early opening, traditional dry heat and two cold baths. For confirmed natural spring water instead, compare the Fudoyu guide or Kegon Onsen; their hours differ.
