Nishiki Onsen in Sumiyoshi: Saturday All-Night Hours and Getting Home
Nishiki Onsen runs all night on Saturdays, with two saunas and soft water; it is a public bath, not lodging, and the station walk is long.
The September 8–14, 2026 maintenance closure is over; the dated notice said normal service would resume at 2 p.m. on September 15. Nishiki’s site also warns that maintenance can cause temporary closures, so check its own notice page before travelling late at night.
Saturday is the reason to plan around Nishiki
The bath opens at 2 p.m. on Saturday and stays open overnight into Sunday. That is useful after an evening out or for anyone already staying in southern Sumiyoshi. It is not a hotel or a 24-hour rest facility: the lobby has a waiting area, light food and games, but there are no guest rooms or overnight accommodation. If you need a bed after bathing, book a separate hotel and confirm its check-in window.
Nishiki’s posted schedules disagree about the latest weekday arrival and closing time.
| Published schedule detail | Hours |
|---|---|
| Weekday last admission (access page) | 12:20 a.m. |
| Weekday service end / closing (hours page) | 12:40 a.m. / 12:50 a.m. |
| Weekday heading on hours page | 12:55 a.m. |
| Sunday entries across pages | 11:40 p.m. or 11:50 p.m. |
For a late weekday visit, use 12:20 a.m. as the arrival cutoff and confirm directly if the timing is close.
The house rules also limit children: elementary-school-age children and younger cannot enter after 11 p.m.; junior-high-school-age children and younger must arrive by 9 p.m. and leave by 11 p.m. Saturday’s all-night schedule is for adults, not a family overnight outing.
Admission and sauna cost
| Item | Published price |
|---|---|
| Adult bath admission | ¥600 |
| Junior-high-school admission | ¥400 |
| Elementary-school admission | ¥200 |
| Preschool-age child | ¥100 |
| Paid dry sauna | ¥100 extra, with a dedicated bath towel |
| Hands-free set | ¥750, including admission, towels, soap, shampoo and conditioner |
The hands-free set does not say it includes the paid dry sauna, so budget for that separately if you want to use it. Osaka’s public-bath association lists the same adult baseline fare of ¥600.
Nishiki has an infrared dry sauna and a separate radon steam room, plus a cold plunge and outdoor bath. The dry sauna is adults-only and gets busy at some times; the facility asks guests to take turns. No fixed year-round sauna or cold-plunge temperature is published. Its description of the main baths as soft-water baths is a water-treatment feature, not evidence of a certified natural hot spring.
Abiko is a walk; driving is simpler
The bath is at 8-10-27 Katta, Sumiyoshi Ward. The Osaka Public Bathhouse Association lists about a 15-minute walk from Abiko Station on the Midosuji Line. That is a real walk through a residential area, not a station-front bathhouse. In rain, with luggage or after midnight, arrange your route before setting out.
Nishiki lists 17 designated parking spaces, each identified by a number. If you drive, park only in the marked spaces. The capacity is unusually helpful for a neighbourhood bath, though it does not guarantee a space at busy times.
The bath’s name and the radon steam-room label are not substitutes for a spring analysis. If a documented natural source is the main reason for your visit, start with the Osaka day-onsen guide. For other Sumiyoshi options with earlier morning hours, see the Sumiyoshi sento guide.
Tattoo policy: Unconfirmed; check with Nishiki before visiting if it affects admission. The dry sauna is adults-only. Children of junior-high-school age or younger must leave by 11 p.m., and elementary-school-age children and younger cannot enter after 11 p.m. Saturday’s overnight bathing is for adults. Nishiki has no rooms, so arrange a separate hotel.
