Seven Sento in Osaka’s Sumiyoshi Ward: Pick by Opening Time and Station

Compare seven Sumiyoshi sento by station and opening time, including weekend dawn openings, late-night bathing, a 9 a.m. start and the shortest station walk.

Osaka City’s FY2026 bathhouse list names seven public baths in Sumiyoshi Ward: Asahi Onsen, Tatsumi Onsen, Tamano-yu, Nishiki Onsen, Hamaguchi Onsen, Hanari Onsen and Takateyu. The city list is useful here because Takateyu does not have a current individual page in the Osaka bathhouse association directory.

The count is seven because it follows the city’s current ward list, not only the bathhouse association’s searchable facility pages. Takateyu remains on the official city roster even though its public operating details are thin; its hours and equipment should be confirmed by phone or a current local listing before travelling.

Adult admission at association-member sento is currently ¥600. The table below is a quick way to narrow the choice; opening times and facility details can change, and Takateyu’s current hours are drawn from a secondary listing rather than an association page.

Match the opening to your day

For a weekend start before breakfast, choose between Asahi Onsen and Tamano-yu. Asahi Onsen stays open all day from 6 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. Tamano-yu’s Sunday morning session ends at noon; it closes for a break, then opens again at 2:30 p.m. and stays open until 1 a.m. As of this check, its association listing names September 29, October 13 and October 27, 2026 as temporary closure dates.

Tatsumi Onsen is the outlier for late schedules: its listed 2 p.m.–noon-next-day hours span the night and morning, with a two-hour cleaning closure. It also lists a dark meditation sauna, outdoor bath and manga area. The facility explicitly permits tattoos in its own rules; that permission should not be assumed at the other six baths.

If you are already near Anryumachi, Hamaguchi Onsen is almost beside the station and has an upstairs outdoor bath, medicinal bath and steam sauna. For a weekday morning, Hanari Onsen’s 9 a.m. opening is the clearest option. Takateyu remains on the city’s official current list, but public facility details are sparse, so call ahead to verify its hours and equipment.

The ward’s bathhouses are not confirmed natural hot springs on the evidence available here. Names such as “Onsen,” soft water, wood-fired heating or a radon-labelled bath are not substitutes for a published source analysis.

At association-member sento, the 2026 standard admission is ¥600 for adults, ¥200 for elementary-school children and ¥100 for younger children. Sauna, towels and other extras vary by venue. Tattoo access is also facility-specific: Tatsumi Onsen is the one of these seven whose own rules explicitly allow tattoos. Do not infer permission at the other six from that exception.

For a weekend dawn bath, Asahi Onsen opens at 6 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. Tamano-yu opens at 6 a.m. on Sundays, then closes for a midday break. Hanari opens at 9 a.m. on weekdays; Hamaguchi is about 30 metres from Anryumachi Station.

Nishiki stays open overnight on Saturdays and admits adults after 11 p.m. It is a public bath, not overnight accommodation. None of these seven is confirmed as a natural spring; Spa Suminoe is a documented alternative.

For a closer look at the two dawn options, read the Asahi Onsen guide and the Tamano-yu Sunday and late-night guide. A city-wide overview is in the Osaka sento guide.
