Tamano-yu in Sumiyoshi: Sunday Morning Bath and Late-Night Hours
Tamano-yu’s Sunday bath runs 6 a.m.–noon, then reopens at 2:30 p.m. It otherwise closes at 1 a.m.; check dated notices for temporary closures.
Tamano-yu has an unusual timetable for a neighbourhood sento: a Sunday-only morning session, a midday break, then its regular afternoon-to-late-night opening. That split is easy to miss if you see only “opens at 6 a.m.” on a listing.
As of the association page checked on September 27, 2026, the next published temporary closure dates are September 29, October 13 and October 27. The page also lists its regular weekly closing day as irregular, so check the current notice before making a special trip. Adult admission is ¥600 under Osaka’s current standard sento fare.
The standard child fares are ¥200 for elementary-school pupils and ¥100 for younger children. The current listing does not settle a sauna surcharge or complete towel bundle, so ask at the counter rather than treating ¥600 as an all-in price. If you are planning around one of the dated closure notices, verify the next current notice before travelling; these dates are not a recurring weekly pattern.
Sunday is two separate sessions
The Sunday morning opening is 6 a.m.–noon. The bathhouse closes at noon, then opens again at 2:30 p.m. and stays open until 1 a.m. Do not arrive at 1 p.m. expecting the morning session to continue.
On other listed operating days, hours are 2:30 p.m.–1 a.m. The association does not publish a fixed last-admission time. If you want time for washing, a sauna and a proper bath, do not plan to enter just before closing.
White water in the main bath, soft water outdoors
The association says the main bath uses ordinary heated water, while the outdoor bath and cold bath use soft water. Its listing also names a sauna, runner-friendly service, five parking spaces, drinks and ice cream. Recent user records indicate sauna use continues, but neither a fixed sauna temperature nor a guaranteed surcharge is published. Ask at the counter if the sauna is central to your visit.
Tamanoyu heats its bathwater with a wood-fired boiler. Its natural-spring status and spring analysis are unconfirmed.
Recent user entries indicate sauna use, but do not establish a fixed sauna temperature or a guaranteed extra fee. The source lists the main tub as plain heated water, with soft water in the outdoor and cold baths; it does not give a stable temperature for each pool. Tattoo rules are not clearly stated in the cited pages, so ask directly if needed.
Access from Abiko or Sugimotocho
Tamano-yu is at 1-4-29 Sugimoto, Sumiyoshi Ward. The Osaka Metro Midosuji Line’s Abiko Station is about seven minutes on foot; JR Sugimotocho is about 10 minutes away. Five parking spaces are listed, but recent visitors have reported them full. A listed car park is not a promise of an available space.

The “runner’s sento” designation makes it relevant to people running around the Sumiyoshi or Nagai area, but it does not mean the bathhouse offers all-day luggage storage. Check directly if you need to leave a bag.
Tamano-yu’s early session is Sunday-specific. For other neighbourhood bathhouse options in the city, see the Osaka sento guide.
The Sunday morning slot suits an early start near Abiko or Sugimotocho, followed by breakfast or a run around the area. If you want a bathhouse that keeps its doors open after the morning session, Asahi Onsen also opens at 6 a.m. on weekends and stays open until midnight; see the Sumiyoshi ward comparison for the difference. Tamano-yu’s own appeal is the unusual combination of a Sunday dawn opening and a 1 a.m. close later that evening.
