KAMENOI HOTEL Tondabayashi: day-use hot spring or an all-inclusive stay?
Compare KAMENOI HOTEL Tondabayashi day-bath prices, short Tuesday/Friday hours, the free station shuttle and its private room bath using regular water.
KAMENOI HOTEL Tondabayashi sits on Mt. Dakeyama, about 280 metres above sea level. Its outdoor bath looks towards the Kongo and Katsuragi ranges, and the hotel is one of the more affordable places in Osaka Prefecture to try a proper hot spring without staying overnight.
The visit is easiest by car or by matching your train to the hotel shuttle. The baths are not beside Tondabayashi Station, and the shuttle only runs at set times. For an overnight stay, another distinction matters: the scenic bath in the special Japanese-Western room uses regular hot water, not the hotel’s spring water.
Day-use bathing: check the weekday before you go
| Day | Adult | Child |
|---|---|---|
| Weekday | ¥700 | ¥500 |
| Saturday, Sunday, holiday or special day | ¥800 | ¥600 |
Day-use bathing is normally 11 a.m.–3 p.m. On Tuesdays and Fridays, cleaning reduces that window to 2–3 p.m. Confirm the date and rate on the hotel’s bath page before setting out.
The source is Tondabayashi Dakeyama Onsen No. 2, a sodium-calcium chloride spring classified as low hypotonic, neutral and low-temperature. The public indoor and outdoor baths use the hot spring. Details for each tub’s supply method and the source temperature are not published, so “free-flowing throughout” would be too strong a claim.
No car? Build the trip around the shuttle
From Osaka, the usual public-transport route is to reach Kintetsu Tondabayashi Station and board the hotel’s free shuttle. The ride takes about 20 minutes. From the station’s north exit, departures are at 10 and 11 a.m., then 1:30, 2:30, 3:30 and 4:30 p.m. Return shuttles leave the hotel at 9:30 and 10:30 a.m., then 1, 2, 3 and 4 p.m.
The shuttle is intended for hotel guests. If you are visiting only for the day, confirm that day-use guests can board and whether a reservation is required; do not assume a seat. On Tuesday or Friday, the short bathing window makes this especially important.
Driving is more straightforward: allow about 25 minutes from Habikino IC or 30 minutes from Mihara-kita IC. There is on-site parking. A car is useful if you plan to combine the bath with other stops in southern Osaka.
What an overnight rate includes in 2026
The property moved to an all-inclusive stay from March 1, 2026. Current overnight plans include dinner and breakfast, selected alcoholic and soft drinks, and some on-site activities. This suits a night when you intend to stay at the hotel; it is less compelling if you will spend the evening elsewhere and return only to sleep.
The separate day-use bath is a simpler product: pay for entry and use the public indoor and outdoor pools during the day-use window. The hotel also offers reservation-based lunch-and-bath plans, a different experience from the basic bath ticket.
The special Japanese-Western room with a scenic bath is 56.2 m² and accommodates up to five. The hotel explicitly says that its private observation bath uses regular hot water. Choose it for privacy and a view, not for a private soak in the spring. The natural hot spring is in the shared bathing area.
Match the hotel to the kind of trip
Families get a Japanese-style room for up to five and an all-inclusive package that makes meals and selected drinks easier to budget, though this is a quiet mountain hotel rather than a water-park-style family spa. For older guests or anyone needing transfer support, one accessible room has an adjustable electric bed and ceiling-mounted lift between the bed and bathroom; confirm the exact layout with the hotel before booking.
Couples may enjoy the hilltop view and included meals, but should not mistake the scenic in-room bath for a private onsen. Solo visitors can use the inexpensive day bath; an all-inclusive overnight rate is most useful if they plan to eat and spend time on site. The hotel is not a particularly direct stop before or after Kansai Airport: the sample route runs via Tennoji, Kintetsu Tondabayashi and the hotel shuttle, with several transfers. It makes more sense as a southern-Osaka or Minami-Kawachi stay than an airport layover.
There are also lunch-and-bath plans that require a reservation. They are a separate package from the standard day-use bath ticket, so compare the included meal and bathing time before choosing.
Who is this hilltop stay for?
It works well for a short southern-Osaka escape if the view and a quiet hotel stay matter more than being close to the city centre. An accessible room has an adjustable electric bed and a ceiling-mounted transfer lift; confirm directly with the hotel that the layout suits your needs.
For a day trip, the one-hour Tuesday/Friday window is a poor fit for a long cross-city journey. On other days, an 11 a.m. shuttle can pair with the 11 a.m. bath opening, but only if the hotel confirms day-visitor access.
