Hinata no Yu Universal Bayside after USJ: hours, price and the last train

After USJ, ride one stop to Hinata no Yu Universal Bayside for 14th-floor hot-spring baths and sauna. Check the 11 p.m. last entry and evening rate.

After a full day at Universal Studios Japan, Hinata no Yu Universal Bayside can turn the trip back into a one-stop ride and a short walk. From Universal City, take the JR Yumesaki Line one stop to Ajikawaguchi; the bathhouse is about five minutes from the station. It occupies the 14th floor and has natural hot-spring baths, a sauna and an outdoor pool above the city.

The timing is the catch. The venue closes at midnight, but last reception is 11 p.m. Allow for the crowd leaving the park, the train wait and the walk from Ajikawaguchi. If you cannot arrive with time to change and bathe, the hotel’s own bath may be the better end to the day.

Budget for the evening rate

Adult entry7 a.m.–5 p.m.5 p.m.–midnight
Weekday¥900¥1,100
Weekend or public holiday¥1,200¥1,400

The evening price is the one most USJ visitors will pay. Children aged four through elementary-school age pay ¥500 on weekdays or ¥600 on weekends and public holidays; children three and under enter free. A towel rental costs ¥300, and shampoo, conditioner and body wash are provided. The facility accepts cashless payment, with in-house spending charged to a wristband and settled at departure.

What the bath offers

The spring is drawn from about 1,000 metres underground. The bathing areas have six types of bath each, including indoor and open-air pools. The rooftop setting is part of the appeal: this is a city view, not a seaside bath or a secluded mountain onsen.

There is a far-infrared sauna, listed at about 90°C, with automatic steam and scheduled towel-waving sessions; the cold bath is about 17°C. The outdoor area has space to cool off between rounds. If you have walked the park all day, there is no need to use every feature—choose a soak and a rest if that is what your legs need.

The facility lists around 20 seats in the sauna and six bath types on each side. Its published pool ranges are roughly 40–41°C for the indoor main bath, 38–42°C for the rotating bath, 40–42°C for the rooftop outdoor and ceramic tubs, and 39–40°C for the artificial carbonated bath. These are bathing-pool temperatures; the 1,000-metre figure is the well depth, not a complete published spring analysis. The city skyline is the view from the 14th floor, not a sea vista.

The practical route takes more than the one train stop suggests: leave USJ for Universal City Station, ride to Ajikawaguchi, walk to the building, then take the lift to the 14th floor and complete reception. If you reach Ajikawaguchi close to 11 p.m., the remaining walk and check-in may put you past last admission. A full bath-and-sauna visit is best planned with a comfortable margin.

Luggage, tattoos and getting back to your hotel

Large bags that do not fit in a locker may be left with the front desk, subject to the facility’s handling conditions. This can help if you are moving between hotels after USJ; ask in advance about bulky or unusual luggage. The venue is not an overnight rest stop and closes at midnight.

The posted tattoo rule is conditional: tattoos are generally prohibited, but the facility sells designated cover seals. A large seal (114 × 200 mm) is ¥200 and a small one (114 × 114 mm) is ¥150. All visible tattooing must be completely covered; a seal is not a blanket exception. Families should also note that children aged six and up cannot bathe with a parent of the opposite sex, and children still in diapers may not enter the baths.

Parking is limited to seven spaces at the main lot, with a second lot that operates from noon to 11 p.m. Users receive two hours of parking; beyond that, the posted rate is ¥500 per 30 minutes. Public transport is usually the simpler choice after USJ.

The large-bag arrangement is for guests arriving at the facility: ask the front desk whether a suitcase can be accepted. It is not a luggage-storage service after you have checked out or left the bath. The source’s seven-part editorial scorecard rated bathing comfort 90, variety 85, upkeep 90, view 95, quiet 60, access 90 and value 85 out of 100; those are subjective impressions, not measured facility ratings.

If you are not going to USJ and are staying near Shin-Osaka, the Naniwa no Yu and Shin-Osaka Hinata comparison may be more relevant. To compare this branch with a lower-cost option that has a shuttle from the Universal hotel area, see Ikkyu or Hinata after USJ.

If your next stop is Shin-Osaka rather than the bay, compare the Shin-Osaka Hinata branch. For other natural-spring baths around the city, start with the Osaka day-onsen guide; the Rinku and Kansai Airport bathing comparison or Spa World guide may fit better if your itinerary runs elsewhere.
