Saga no Yu-dokoro KOMOREBI: Onsen and Sauna Guide

Compare KOMOREBI’s entry rates, family-bath prices, sauna options and morning hours; check the under-four bathing rule and limited bus information.

At Saga no Yu-dokoro KOMOREBI, the ¥980 weekday adult ticket includes the public baths and sauna. Children aged three or younger cannot use the public baths, so families with a toddler need to book a private room and pay its fee on top of admission. KOMOREBI is about a five-minute drive from Saga Station. That drive time does not answer the no-car question: no bus route or station-to-door walking time is published here, so plan the last leg before building the visit around a train connection.

Public bathing costs less; the private room changes the maths

The five family-bath rooms are priced separately from admission:

SessionWeekdaysWeekends and holidays
60 minutes¥2,000¥2,600
120 minutes¥3,900¥5,100
150 minutes¥4,700Not listed

Call to book. Private baths are available from 11 a.m. to midnight, with the last booking at 11 p.m.

That makes the public ticket the straightforward option for adults and older children who are comfortable bathing communally. For a family with a toddler, add the room charge to everyone’s admission before deciding whether KOMOREBI fits the day’s budget. Tattooed guests are not admitted under the operator’s published rules.

The sauna lineup depends on which side you use

Men’s and women’s baths have different sauna setups. The men’s ISO sauna has two large screens. The women’s HAJU has hourly automatic aroma loyly sessions, plus an outdoor barrel sauna where visitors can perform self-loyly.

There are eight listed bath types, including a carbonated bath, electric bath, outdoor rock bath, cold plunge and individual pot baths. Saga’s tourism information says most baths use source water directly, but the operator does not explain how each tub is treated. The eight-bath count therefore does not mean every pool uses the spring in the same way.

The source figures come from different records

The operator currently lists a source drilled to 1,126 metres, a temperature of 45.2°C and a flow rate of 625 litres per minute. It describes the spring as sodium bicarbonate water. A formal analysis dated March 26, 2020 records 640 litres per minute, pH 8.6 and a fuller classification of sodium bicarbonate–chloride hot spring. Those flow figures belong to different records and dates; there is no reason to force them into a single number.

The spring data gives a clearer picture of the water than a generic “natural onsen” label, but it does not tell you how every bath is heated, diluted or circulated. For the distinction between source figures and bath conditions, see the guide to reading onsen source and bath-temperature records.

Getting there and checking the rules

Saga’s tourism listing puts the drive from Saga Station at about five minutes. It does not establish a public-bus itinerary or a station-to-door walking time, so visitors without a car should check local transport for their travel date or arrange a taxi. This is a better fit as a two-to-four-hour stop than as a quick soak squeezed between trains.

Children aged three or younger are excluded from the public baths even though admission is free for them; they need a private family bath. The operator also prohibits entry for guests with tattoos. For more regional options, start with the Kyushu onsen destination guide; the sento, onsen and super sento guide explains how the labels relate to water source and facility size.
