PARADISE in Mita: A Time-Based Sauna in a Former Neighbourhood Bathhouse

PARADISE near Tamachi starts at ¥1,000 for 30 minutes on weekdays, with ¥250 per extra 10 minutes; women’s entry is on announced dates.

At PARADISE, the clock is part of the ticket. The former Mansaiyu sento operated in this neighbourhood for about 90 years before the site reopened as a contemporary sauna and bath facility in 2022. Today the draw is a shared cypress sauna, private saunas, two cold baths and a second-floor rest area, all a short walk from Tamachi and Mita.

That setup suits a break between work, dinner or a meeting nearby. It is less attractive if you want a long, unhurried soak at the price of a standard Tokyo public bath.

Work out the likely bill before you go in

The first 30 minutes include a towel; each additional 10 minutes adds ¥250.

Visit lengthWeekdayWeekend or holiday
30 minutes¥1,000¥1,100
60 minutes¥1,750¥1,850
90 minutes¥2,500¥2,600

Private-sauna prices are separate: an advance-booked two-hour course is ¥4,000, while an on-site request adds ¥1,000 to ordinary admission, subject to availability. Reserve in advance if the private room is essential.

The time charge includes the moments spent changing and cooling down, so decide how long you want before your session starts. It is easy to spend longer than planned when the rest area is available upstairs.

The shared sauna is the main event

PARADISE uses domestic cypress in its shared sauna and allows guests to pour water over the stones themselves for self-löyly. That means the steam is not limited to a fixed automatic cycle, but it also asks people sharing the room to be considerate: add water in small amounts and give others time to adjust.

There are two cold baths, one around 16°C and another below 10°C. The colder pool is optional, not a test of experience. Start with the milder bath if you are unfamiliar with cold plunges, and leave the sauna if you feel dizzy, nauseated or unwell.

The facility does not present itself as a natural hot spring. Its value is the urban sauna setup and the way it sits within the old bathhouse footprint.

Hours are interrupted by cleaning and maintenance

The regular operating window is 24 hours, except for daily cleaning from 3 to 6 a.m.; last admission is 2 a.m. Since August 2026, the first and third Mondays of the month also have a scheduled maintenance closure from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Special dates can change that schedule, so check the latest notice before an early visit.

PARADISE is ordinarily a men-only facility. Its fixed Ladies’ Day schedule on the 10th, 20th and 30th ended after July 30, 2026. Women’s access is now offered on an irregular, separately announced basis; check the dated notice for the event you plan to attend.

All guests need to add the venue’s LINE account and register as members. Payment is cashless; bring a usable card or supported electronic payment method rather than relying on cash at reception.

Fit it into a Mita or Tamachi day

Both Tamachi Station and Mita Station are about a five-minute walk away. That makes PARADISE easy to fold into the business district or a meal nearby, but there is no on-site parking. For another kind of Tokyo bathhouse, compare the seven facilities in the modern sento guide.
