Yunishigawa Mizunosato Onsen: Current Prices, Hours and Access
Check Mizunosato’s ¥1,000 nonresident adult rate, Wednesday closure and limited weekday restaurant hours along the Yunishigawa bus route.
Yunishigawa Mizunosato makes the most sense as part of a wider visit to the valley. The public bath, free footbath, suspension bridge and short walking paths are together at one stop, but the railway station is still a bus ride away. For a quick soak alone, that extra leg can outweigh the bath time; if you are already heading to Yunishigawa or staying nearby, it is an easier daytime stop.
What a visit costs now
The current rates took effect on April 1, 2026. Visitors who do not live in Nikko City pay ¥1,000 for ages 13 and up, ¥700 for children aged 4 through elementary school, and nothing for children up to age 3. Nikko residents have lower rates, but the bath reception asks for proof of address and age.

Nikko residents need to show proof of age and address to use the lower rate. The facility also lists fee exemptions for holders of specified disability or support certificates and one accompanying caregiver; bring the current qualifying document and confirm the reception procedure before travelling.
The listed bath is an alkaline simple hot spring at pH 9.5. Mizunosato describes its water as clear, colorless, and odorless, and identifies the public bath as source-fed. The facility has indoor and open-air bathing, plus a free outdoor footbath. The official pages do not publish a current temperature for each pool, so the spring classification is not a promise that the water will feel mild.
The operator says visitors often find the continuously flowing spring water hot. If you are sensitive to heat, test it briefly and leave if uncomfortable; pH and spring type do not indicate how hot a particular bath will feel.
The facility page marks its hot ceramic-pot bath as display-only, not an extra pool for guests. No sauna is listed. Mizunosato is a small mountain visitor centre with indoor and outdoor baths, not a super-sento with multiple temperature zones or a long-stay manga lounge.
Hours, closure and food
The bath is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., with last admission at 6 p.m. Its regular closure is Wednesday; when Wednesday is a public holiday, the closure moves to Thursday. New Year and event periods can have exceptions, and temporary closures are possible, so check the facility notice for your date.
The restaurant has a separate schedule. Since September 1, 2026, it is generally open Friday through Sunday and public holidays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with last order at 2:30 p.m. It also opens daily during the listed busy months—February, July, August, October and November—except on its regular closure day.
A weekday visit outside those months is not a safe bet for lunch, so bring a backup plan. The shop has shorter hours as well.
Getting there without a car
Yunishigawa-Onsen Station is on the Yagan Railway Aizu-Kinugawa Line. The station is not in the hot-spring village: the Nikko Kotsu bus from the station takes about 15 minutes to the Mizunosato Tourist Center stop, which is just outside the facility. Continuing to the Yunishigawa Onsen terminal takes about 25 minutes. Check the bus departure that fits your train before setting out; services are not continuous, and road or snow conditions can cause delays.
For a longer visit, the free footbath and short trails make it possible to spend time outdoors without paying for another attraction. The facility lists a short walk from the suspension bridge, about 15 minutes one way. Keep the bath's 6 p.m. last admission and your return bus in view, especially if you arrive late in the day.
In winter, the Snow Park has at times bundled sledding with same-day bath admission. The 2026 edition ran January 31–March 1.
Its ¥1,200 adult / ¥600 child ticket included both; those were event prices, not a standing onsen rate.
Check the next season’s dates and ticket terms before using that as a budget. Event operations can also change the usual Wednesday closure, as happened when the 2026 holiday opening shifted the rest day to Thursday.
Mizunosato is a practical stop for people already exploring Yunishigawa, particularly when they want a public bath outside their lodging. It is a less efficient detour for a single soak from farther away.
