Staying at KAMENOI HOTEL Arima: Public Kinsen or a Bath in Your Room?

Compare KAMENOI HOTEL Arima’s public Kinsen bath with its three private-spring room types, including bathing hours, room sizes, shuttle access and meals.

Updated September 2026

KAMENOI HOTEL Arima is a good fit if the main reason for staying in Arima is its Kinsen hot spring. Every overnight guest can use the hotel’s public bath; only three room types have a private, free-flowing Kinsen bath. The choice is less about whether you can bathe in the spring and more about whether you want to share the bathhouse or have a soak whenever you like in your room.

What the room upgrade actually buys

Most rooms are Japanese-style, Western-style or Japanese-Western rooms. Some have a regular bath or shower; that does not make it a hot spring bath. The private-spring options are three Premium Japanese-Western rooms introduced in August 2025:

RoomSizeMaximum occupancy
Corner View40 m²4
Premium52 m²4
Premium59 m²5

Each of these rooms has a bath supplied with natural Kinsen from the hotel’s Atagoyama source. The 59 m² room has the highest occupancy; the other two are capped at four. Check the exact room name, not just “bath included,” when comparing plans.

For a short stay with one evening bath and another in the morning, a standard room may be all you need. The upgrade makes more sense for couples or relatives who want to bathe together, anyone who prefers privacy, or guests who would use the spring several times without fitting around public-bath hours.

The public bath is about the water, not a long circuit of pools

The hotel uses its own Atagoyama hot spring source for Kinsen. It is an iron- and sodium-chloride-rich spring, and water flows directly into the public bath. The bathing facilities are centred on an indoor communal bath rather than a large collection of open-air pools or different-temperature baths.

Overnight guests can use the bath from 11 a.m. to midnight and 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. There is a closure between midnight and 5 a.m., and another after 9 a.m. Day visitors share the same bath until 4 p.m., with last admission at 3 p.m. If having a quiet soak is a priority, the private room bath removes that overlap; otherwise, the early-morning and later-evening windows are useful alternatives.

Getting up the hill with luggage

KAMENOI is about a five-minute drive or a 20-minute walk from Arima Onsen Station. The walk is uphill, so the estimate feels different with a suitcase or stroller. Guests can call for a free pickup after reaching Arima Onsen Station or the bus terminal. For the return journey, ask the front desk about the current shuttle schedule when you check in.

The underground garage has a 2.1-metre height limit. The hotel also lists two accessible parking spaces, loan wheelchairs, two lifts and an accessible toilet on the second floor. It does not describe a step-free route to every room or the bath; ask about the specific room and bathing route you need.

Meals are served in the restaurant

Restaurant Flora serves dinner from 5:30 to 9 p.m. and breakfast from 7 to 9 a.m.; breakfast entry ends at 8 a.m. The menu centres on seasonal Hyogo ingredients and includes Kobe beef options. A late-night tantan noodle service is also offered to staying guests from 9 to 10:30 p.m.

An included dinner is convenient if you would rather stay on the hill for the evening. If you plan to eat around the old town, compare the room-only or breakfast plan instead of paying for a dinner you will not use. Meal availability and course details vary by date.

A sensible way to compare plans

Open the same dates and guest count for both a standard room and one of the Premium Kinsen rooms. Keep the meal plan and cancellation terms the same. The difference between those two totals is the price of a private spring bath—not the price of getting access to Kinsen at all.

If you want more bathing variety or private-bath choices across several inns, compare it with the Arima ryokan guide and private onsen comparison. For a day visit rather than an overnight stay, see the Arima public-bath guide.
