Karin no Yu Sauna Guide: Pick a Ticket That Leaves Room to Breathe

Compare Karin no Yu’s 120-minute and Free Time tickets, shared-sauna rules, weekday and weekend prices, and the late-night tattoo window.

Updated September 2026

Karin no Yu is outside central Katori, so it makes little sense to race through the building once you arrive. The ticket choice comes down to what you want from the visit: a quick soak, a couple of sauna rounds, or several hours that include food and downtime.

The 120-minute plan costs ¥950 on weekdays or ¥1,390 on weekends and public holidays. It covers the baths and saunas, but comes without towels or indoor clothing. The co-ed Sauna Garden requires swimwear or the facility’s clothing; swimwear rental is ¥500. A towel set is ¥420.

Free Time costs ¥1,280 on weekdays and ¥1,980 on weekends and public holidays. It includes indoor clothing, which also works in Sauna Garden, but towels are extra. On a weekday, the ¥330 difference from the 120-minute plan can be a better buy if you want a relaxed shared-sauna session without renting swimwear. At weekends, Free Time costs more, so the short plan is sensible when you already know you will leave within two hours.

What the shared sauna adds

Sauna Garden is a mixed-gender, clothing-required space, separate from the gender-divided baths. The large loyly room holds more than 30 people. Aufguss sessions are generally held daily at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m., though special events can change the programme; check the latest event updates before travelling. The regular bathing ticket also includes access to the sauna rooms in each gender-separated bathing area.

The natural spring is a different part of the visit. It is pumped from about 1,500 metres underground and classified as an iron- and iodine-bearing sodium-chloride strong saline spring. Bath water is adjusted to 41°C. That figure describes the water in use, not the temperature at the source, and the published facility pages do not establish that every bath is supplied by unrestricted source flow.

Morning entry and the return trip

Morning bathing runs from 7 to 10 a.m., with last admission at 9.

Adult admission is ¥840 on weekdays and ¥1,390 on weekends and public holidays.

This can suit guests staying at THE FARM or travelling by car who want a bath before their day begins. It is a poor fit if you are relying on a long transfer from Tokyo just to make the first hour.

Public transport is possible, but service is limited. A free shuttle connects Kurimoto, served by the Tokyo highway bus, with THE FARM; guests arriving from Narita Airport can use a route bus from Terminal 2. Neither option runs like an urban train, so check the access page for the return departure before committing to a late visit.

One more timing issue: guests with tattoos can use the baths and shared sauna only during the current 9 p.m.–midnight Tattoo Friendly Time. Before then, tattoos must stay covered, and covered guests still may not use those areas. Confirm the latest facility notice before travelling, as the operator reserves the right to review the policy.

The short version

Choose 120 minutes for a focused soak and a little sauna time, especially if you bring your own swimwear and towels. Choose Free Time when your group wants to move at different speeds or spend the afternoon in the shared area. If you have tattoos, build the visit around the 9 p.m. access window rather than the facility’s closing time.
