Benimansaku no Yu: A Miyahama Onsen Stop After Miyajima
Benimansaku no Yu has long daily hours, several baths, a sauna and a restaurant; confirm the current ¥900 weekday rate against older ¥800 listings.
If Miyajima is already on your itinerary, Benimansaku no Yu makes a practical bath stop on the mainland side of the strait. It is about 5 km from JR Miyajimaguchi Station by road and around 2 km from JR Onoura Station. The big advantage is not a claim that it is the island’s closest possible bath; it is that the facility accepts day visitors throughout a much longer window than the nearby inns.
What is inside
The facility lists nine bathing options: a rock bath, a cypress bath, a rotating themed bath, a standard bath, jet and bubble baths, a sauna, a cold plunge and a footbath. Treat that as a list of bath styles, not nine separate natural springs. The operator describes the spring as a simple weakly radioactive cold spring, low in dissolved minerals and weakly alkaline. It does not publish a facility-specific source temperature or a clear account of how each pool is supplied, heated or circulated.
After bathing, the second-floor terrace looks out over the sea toward Miyajima and the islands of the Seto Inland Sea. The restaurant, Yuya Wataya, is in the same building, so lunch or an early dinner can fit into the stop without another transfer. Restaurant hours are normally 11 a.m.–9 p.m., with last orders at 8:30 p.m.; temporary schedule changes do happen.
Hours, fees and towels
Bathing is listed daily, with a monthly closure and a later start when the regular closing day falls on a public holiday.

The September app coupon was temporary, not the regular fare. Re-entry is only available while you remain inside and may be suspended on busy holidays, so it does not cover a trip to Miyajima and back.
Getting there from Miyajima
By car, the facility is roughly a 10-minute drive from Miyajimaguchi and the Ohno interchange, or about five minutes from JR Onoura. The municipal Ono Heart Bus also stops at Benimansaku no Yu; it is listed at roughly hourly intervals, but check the current timetable and last departure before relying on it. A later closing time does not mean there will still be a bus back.
For visitors without a car, JR Onoura plus the local bus is the clearest connection to check. A taxi from Miyajimaguchi avoids the transfer, which may be worth comparing if several people are travelling together. Do not assume the stop is a quick detour from central Hiroshima: the facility is west of the city, across the bay from Miyajima.
A few rules worth knowing
The visitor guide says people with tattoos—including temporary tattoo designs and stickers—are refused entry to the facility. It also says that re-entry must be requested at reception and is limited to the time you spend inside. Anyone with a tattoo should contact the facility before building a visit around it; the published rule does not describe a cover-sticker exception.
If you want a straightforward day bath with a sauna, multiple pools, towels available for purchase and food upstairs, Benimansaku is the most flexible of the three main Miyahama options. For a quieter inn bath at a lower listed price, compare Ryokan Kanzaki’s day-bathing terms. If the panoramic rooftop bath is the deciding factor, see the Miyahama Grand Hotel day-use guide.
