Miyahama Grand Hotel Day Use: Check the Bath Schedule Before You Go
Miyahama Grand Hotel’s ¥800 day ticket covers public baths; check weekly hours, gender-assigned outdoor baths and private-bath dates.
Checked: 2026-09-27
Miyahama Grand Hotel is the choice here when the view matters more than having a long, predictable bathing window. Its public bath connects to one of two open-air areas: Marumie, the rooftop bath with a broad view over the sea and Miyajima, or Nozokimi, an open-air bath built in rock. The baths switch between men and women, and the hotel publishes a separate day-use schedule for each date.
As of September 27, the latest notice covers September 28 through October 4. It lists some days ending at 4 p.m., others at 5 p.m. or 8 p.m., and a closure on October 1. That is why “usually 1–8 p.m.” is not enough for planning: check the current weekly notice for both the hours and the bath allocation.
Three ways to use the hotel
| Visit type | What it includes | What to confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Public day bath | Adult ¥800; elementary school ¥400; ages three to preschool ¥300 | Daily hours and which outdoor bath is open to men and women |
| Private bath, Momiji | Day-use admission plus ¥3,800 | Operating date and time; ask the hotel in advance |
| Morning bath and breakfast | ¥3,980 per adult; breakfast, bath and towel included | Reserve online in advance and pay ahead; no station shuttle |
The day-use notice says payment is cash only. It also warns that bathing may end early when the hotel has many overnight guests. The private bath, Momiji, is offered for day use on some dates; the same notice says the ¥3,800 charge is added to regular admission and asks visitors to inquire about available days and times. Do not turn that into a guaranteed daily service.
The morning plan is also separate from ordinary public day bathing. The hotel lists bathing from 6 a.m., breakfast from 7 a.m. and checkout by 10 a.m.; the ¥3,980 adult package includes breakfast, admission and a towel. It requires an advance online reservation and prepayment, and the hotel says there is no pickup from JR Onoura for this plan. Check the booking page for current availability before arranging an early start.
Which outdoor bath do you get?
Marumie is on the rooftop, with views across the water toward Miyajima. Nozokimi is the rock-built outdoor bath. The hotel’s current weekly notice assigns them to men and women by day, then switches the allocation. If you have a specific bath in mind, check the notice for your date rather than relying on a photo or an old review.
The hotel lists its own spring as a simple weakly radioactive spring, with a source temperature of 22.1°C and pH 8.1. Its published bathing method is filtration and circulation, with heating and added water for temperature control. The 22.1°C figure describes the source, not the temperature of the bathing pool.
Access and a useful alternative
The hotel is in Miyahama Onsen, about 2 km from JR Onoura Station by road. Its station shuttle is described around guest arrival and check-in; a day visitor should not assume that it is an on-demand courtesy ride. Check the hotel’s transport terms directly or use the current local bus, taxi or a car.
If the hotel’s day-use window does not fit your Miyajima schedule, Benimansaku no Yu has a longer public opening window and a sauna. For a lower-priced small-inn bath, compare Ryokan Kanzaki; its private bath is not spring water.
