Early-Morning and Late-Night Onsen in Matsuyama
Find where you can still bathe in Matsuyama before dawn or after midnight, with current last-entry times and practical train, bus and taxi notes.

In Matsuyama, “open late” can mean very different things. Some baths stop admitting visitors at 11 p.m.; a few stay open well past midnight, while one venue closes its baths for cleaning even though guests may remain overnight. If you need a soak at 3 a.m. or before an early departure, plan around the bathing window—not just the facility’s headline opening hours.
The hours below were checked against operator pages on September 28, 2026. They can change for maintenance, holidays or special events. Public transport does not run all night simply because a bath does, so check your exact return journey before you set out.
The overnight-to-morning handover
| Time window | What is open for bathing | What changes at that point |
|---|---|---|
| 1–2 a.m. | Kume-no-Yu and Himehiko Onsen; Kisuke if you entered before 1 a.m. | Kisuke stops admitting visitors at 1 a.m. and closes the bath at 2 a.m. |
| 2–4 a.m. | Kume-no-Yu and Himehiko Onsen | These are the two listed public baths still open through this window. |
| 4–5 a.m. | Kume-no-Yu and Himehiko Onsen | Both publish a ¥500 early-bath rate. |
| 5–6 a.m. | Kisuke-no-Yu and Sora to Mori reopen; Kume-no-Yu and Himehiko remain open | Sora to Mori’s overnight guests can use the baths again after its cleaning break. |
| 6–7 a.m. | Teiregi-no-Yu joins the morning options | Himehiko’s public bath closes at 7 a.m. |
| 7–9 a.m. | Kisuke, Sora to Mori, Kume-no-Yu and Teiregi | Kume-no-Yu offers its ¥500 early rate until 9 a.m.; Himehiko is closed. |
| 9–11 a.m. | Himehiko reopens; Kisuke, Sora to Mori and Teiregi remain open | Kume-no-Yu closes from 9 to 11 a.m. Himehiko lists a ¥500 early-bath rate until 11 a.m. |
Teiregi’s last entry is 11 p.m., and Sora to Mori’s is midnight. At the other end of the night, an advertised overnight stay is not the same as access to a bath during cleaning. Check the operator’s current notice if your visit depends on a particular window.
If you arrive after midnight
| Kume-no-Yu | Current listing |
|---|---|
| Bathing hours | 11 a.m.–9 a.m. next day; daily closure 9–11 a.m. |
| Adult admission | ¥600 regular; ¥500 from 4–9 a.m. |
| From Iyotetsu Kume Station | About a three-minute walk |
The walk is convenient when trains are running, but it does not solve the ride back after the last service.
| Himehiko Onsen | Current listing |
|---|---|
| Public bath hours | 9 a.m.–7 a.m. next day |
| Early-bath rate | ¥500 from 4–7 a.m. and 9–11 a.m. |
| Hantadera-guchi bus stop | About a three-minute walk |
| From Kume Station | Taxi recommended; roughly five minutes by car |
After-midnight visitors should not assume a bus or train will still be operating on arrival.
Kisuke-no-Yu is the easiest late option if you are already by JR Matsuyama Station: it is about a one-minute walk away. The bathing area opens at 5 a.m. and closes at 2 a.m., with last entry at 1 a.m. After 2 a.m., the venue lists a separately charged overnight rest option, but Kisuke is not a hotel and this is not an extension of bath hours; parts of the building close for cleaning overnight.
Early baths without mistaking a lounge for a bath
Kisuke opens its bath at 5 a.m., while Sora to Mori also opens day use at 5 a.m. Sora to Mori’s bathing closes at 1 a.m., with last entry at midnight. An overnight stay lets eligible adults remain on site until 9 a.m., but the changing rooms, public baths and bedrock-bath area close from 1 to 5 a.m. for cleaning. The overnight option is restricted to guests aged 18 or older; accompanying a minor does not waive the rule.
Sora to Mori is about a three-minute walk from Iyotetsu Kume Station, according to the operator. That makes it easier to reach by rail than Teiregi, but still check the first train for your date before counting on a dawn connection. The bath opening time and the first available train are separate things.
Teiregi-no-Yu opens at 6 a.m. and stops entry at 11 p.m., closing at midnight. It is the most practical of these options for drivers: the operator lists 150 free parking spaces and gives road access from Matsuyama and Kawauchi interchanges. Its published access page does not give a comparable nearby railway walk, so do not assume a public-transport trip will be as simple as arriving by car.
Check the route before you commit to a time
The five facilities sit in different parts of Matsuyama. Kisuke is beside JR Matsuyama Station; Kume-no-Yu and Sora to Mori are both near Kume Station; Himehiko is served by the Hantadera-guchi bus stop, while Teiregi is on the southern edge of the city. A bath that stays open after midnight can still leave you with a taxi ride if the last train or bus has already gone.
Use Iyotetsu’s official station and stop search for the weekday, Saturday or Sunday schedule on your travel date. The route planner notes that actual bus running times can differ because of road conditions. For a very late visit, decide on your return plan before you enter the bath rather than waiting until closing time.
