Gokase Onsen Kijiya: A Mountain Stay with a 23.4°C Spring
Kijiya is Gokase’s only listed hot-spring lodging, with a 23.4°C alkaline source; check parking limits and ask the inn for day-use rates.
Checked: September 27, 2026
Gokase Onsen Kijiya is less a destination spa than a useful base in a remote part of Miyazaki. It sits within the G-Park complex and brings lodging, meals and bathing together—handy after a long drive through Gokase, a hike, or a visit to the highlands. The operator calls it the only onsen in Gokase Town.
Understand the spring before you book
The source is a low-mineral alkaline cold spring at 23.4°C, flowing at a published rate of 63.6 litres per minute. The source temperature is not the bath temperature; the operator presents the facility as a bathing spring and does not publish a pool-by-pool treatment chart.

Choose a room around the shared-bath setup
The main building has Japanese-Western rooms with a bath and toilet, plus twin rooms with private bath and toilet. A triple room uses shared bath and toilet facilities. Japanese rooms come in eight- and ten-mat sizes; neither has an in-room bath, and the larger room has a shared toilet.
The adjoining annex is more like a group lodge. It has dormitory-style rooms for four, six, seven or eight people, shared bathrooms and toilets, and no televisions. That layout suits training camps and groups better than travellers expecting hotel-room privacy. Check-in is from 3 p.m. to midnight, with checkout by 10 a.m.
Meals are available on site, including local dishes and seasonal menus. The restaurant’s usual hours are 11 a.m.–2 p.m. and 5–8 p.m.; it normally closes Tuesdays and Wednesdays, even when the bath itself may open Tuesday afternoon. Plan those services separately.
Driving notes that matter this autumn
Since September 7, 2026, part of the parking area has been unavailable on weekdays while nearby fill work continues. The operator asks visitors bringing large buses to call in advance. A separate notice lists a full-facility closure on December 8, 2026, for hot-spring equipment maintenance. Both notices can affect a trip more than the regular Tuesday schedule, so check the operator’s news before leaving.
Kijiya is at 9223 Sangasho, Gokase. The town is reached by mountain roads rather than a convenient rail link; allow time for the drive and avoid assuming a nearby alternative bath will be open. For a different inland natural-spring stop, compare Hourigawa and Healthtopia in Nobeoka. Travellers staying around Takachiho can also use the after-sightseeing bath comparison to decide whether the western detour fits.
