Hotel Nichinan Kitago Resort: Day-Use Onsen and Bedrock Baths

Compare weekday bath-only admission from ¥800 with the bath-and-bedrock package from ¥1,400; check cleaning days and rates before the drive.

Checked: September 27, 2026

The resort is in the hills above Kitago, with a panoramic open-air bath, indoor public bath and sauna. Bedrock bathing is a separate attraction: four heated rooms range from a moderate 45°C to a hotter 75°C, with a 23°C cooling room. Allow a couple of hours if you want to use both the baths and the bedrock area without rushing.

Day-use prices change with the calendar

The resort lists three adult day-use products. The standard public bath includes the indoor bath, panoramic outdoor bath and sauna. Bedrock bathing can be bought on its own, or as a package with the public bath.

Four rooms, with a proper cool-down space

The four bedrock-bath rooms are not all the same temperature. The rock-salt and wood-grain rooms are each about 45°C; the Korean-style heated room is about 75°C; and the cooling room is about 23°C. The last one is for cooling down, not another hot room. The hotel provides a dedicated outfit and towels with the bedrock-bath admission.

Start gently if bedrock bathing is new to you, take breaks between rooms and drink water. There is no prize for doing all four in one go. The combination ticket makes financial sense if you already plan to use both the public bath and the heated rooms; the standard bath ticket is enough if the view and a sauna are all you came for.

Watch the weekly cleaning window

The recurring cleaning schedule can change the morning plan. The women’s public bath is cleaned on Tuesdays, and the men’s on Thursdays. The affected baths generally reopen at around 1 pm, with the exact opening dependent on when cleaning finishes. On those days, an early visit may mean waiting until afternoon for the relevant bath area.

Bath amenities include soap, body wash, shampoo and conditioner. That makes the resort easier to use as a spontaneous stop than a bathhouse where you need to bring everything. For dates such as Obon or New Year, check the price column before budgeting; “weekday ¥800” is not the year-round rate.

It is a drive-up stop

The hotel is about seven minutes by car from the Nichinan-Kitago interchange and roughly 45 minutes from Miyazaki Airport. It has 250 free parking spaces. The hilltop location suits a rental-car itinerary around Obi, Kitago or the Nichinan coast. JR Kitago Station is not next door, so anyone without a car should arrange a taxi or another return option before setting off.

For a quick look at the other baths nearby, use the Kitago day-use comparison. If a private bath is the deciding factor, the Kitago family-bath comparison explains how the resort’s booking and hours compare with Sancherry’s.
