Dairo no Yu in Niigata: Is the Onsen Open in 2026?
Dairo no Yu has been closed since September 2025, with no reopening date announced. Check current notices before relying on old hours, fares or access details.
Dairo no Yu is a day-use hot spring in Niigata City’s Nishikan Ward, known for three separate sources. That reputation can still bring up old opening hours, prices and bus information in search results. They are not useful for planning a visit right now: the facility has been temporarily closed since September 17, 2025.
The operator’s notice says the closure is for equipment maintenance and other repair work, with no date given for reopening. Niigata City’s official tourism guide continues to mark the facility as closed. The operator’s website still has no reopening announcement as of September 27, 2026. Treat Dairo no Yu as unavailable unless a new notice appears; do not travel there on the basis of an old timetable or a map listing that says “open daily.”
What is known—and what is not
The closure notice is specific about why the doors shut, but it does not give a construction schedule or a projected return date. The site’s January 2026 New Year post is not a reopening announcement. The regional tourism entry also retains older business details alongside its current closure notice, so its listed hours, prices and amenities should not be read as confirmation that the baths are operating.
There is no published basis for calling this a permanent closure, either. “Temporarily closed” is the operator’s stated status; until it posts a date, the practical answer is simply that visitors cannot count on bathing there.
If you already have a Dairo no Yu multi-visit ticket, a fully stamped point card or an eligible weekday voucher from its sister inn Wataya, the operator says these can be used for day bathing at Wataya during the closure. Expiry dates still apply, and Wataya’s bathing days and hours need to be confirmed with the inn.
If you were planning a three-source bath
Dairo no Yu’s three-source setup is unusual, but an alternative should match the day you are planning rather than the old facility profile. If you are staying in the broader Niigata area, check whether a different operating bath fits your route and opening hours. For a smaller, quieter public bath east of Niigata City, Kehoji no Yu in Deyu Onsen reopened in April 2026. Travellers interested in another mountain day bath can compare Nasteview Yunoyama in Matsunoyama, but it is much farther away and requires its own transport plan.
Before leaving, check the official Dairo no Yu homepage and its news section. If the notice changes, confirm the reopening date, which baths are available, the current admission price and whether access services have resumed. Older pages mention a seasonal sightseeing bus and several prices, but those details do not establish a current service during closure.
