Nasteview Yunoyama in Matsunoyama: Hours, Prices and the 2026 Return to Service

Nasteview Yunoyama reopened in April 2026 after hot-spring supply problems. Check its latest calendar before driving to this mountain day bath.

Nasteview Yunoyama is a day-use bath in Matsunoyama, a mountain hot-spring area in Tokamachi. Its draw is a substantial bathing setup—indoor hot and warm pools, an outdoor bath, a sauna and a cold bath—rather than a quick stop beside a train station.

The facility reopened for general visitors on April 11, 2026, after a long closure tied to unstable hot-spring supply. It then closed again from June 18 to 30 for a pumping test. The site is operating again, but that recent history makes one habit worthwhile: check its own news and calendar on the day you go.

What the bath is like

The indoor bathing area has two pools with different heat levels, a useful arrangement if you prefer to ease into a hot soak. There is also an outdoor bath, a cold-water bath and a sauna. The operator says it cools its high-temperature source water through heat exchange rather than adding water for temperature control. It also describes daily tub cleaning and sanitation.

The source analysis still linked from the bath page dates to 2018. It records a source temperature of 92.2°C and a sodium-calcium chloride spring. Those are useful historical measurements, not a fresh 2026 test result. Do not confuse source temperature with the temperature of the pools; the facility does not publish a fixed tub temperature.

Why the 2026 closure history matters

In January, the operator said the natural-flow supply had been interrupted repeatedly. Once the pipes emptied, restoring the flow could take more than three hours, making it difficult to provide a consistent hot-spring bath. After repairs and test operation, general service resumed in April. The June pumping test was a further effort to investigate supply stability.

The facility has also published what happens if the pump stops: the baths cool while the supply is down, and it can take around three hours for hot spring water to reach the bathing building again. Check for a same-day notice before making a long detour. If you are already nearby, a temporary interruption may be manageable; if this is the sole reason for a long drive, it is a real planning risk.

Getting to the bath

The operator’s access page gives a drive of about 15 minutes from Matsudai Station and around 30 minutes from Tokamachi Station. Public transport serves the wider Matsunoyama area, but do not assume every bus to the hot-spring town stops at Nasteview’s entrance. Confirm the stop, walking distance and return service before you travel. A taxi from Matsudai is the simpler fallback if the bus does not fit.

There is parking for about 150 regular cars. In winter, allow for snow and mountain-road conditions; a large car park does not make the approach road predictable.

Is it worth making the trip?

It suits a longer soak, a sauna visit or a stop during a day around Matsunoyama and Tokamachi. Choose a weekday evening for the lowest adult rate; the seasonal early opening can leave most of a spring-to-autumn day free afterward.

It is a less reliable choice for a tightly timed connection or a long single-purpose detour. Service has recovered, but the operator’s own notices show that supply issues required both a prolonged closure and later testing in 2026. Treat the official calendar and news as part of your route plan.
