Nakamuraya Ryokan Day Bath in Seki Onsen: Price, Access and Winter Limits
Nakamuraya offers a ¥500 adult bath in Myoko’s iron-rich Seki Onsen. Confirm the 9 am–4 pm day-use window; its outdoor bath closes in winter.
Seki Onsen and nearby Tsubame Onsen have very different water and settings. Seki’s spring is known for its iron content and can turn reddish brown after contact with air; Tsubame is better known for milky sulfur water. Nakamuraya gives day visitors a simple ryokan bath rather than a large spa, and the approach is best when you are already in the Myoko area.

The local tourism bureau lists the rate and hours, and warns that day use should be checked ahead. Crowding, private use or maintenance can affect admission. The published 4 pm closing time is not a guarantee that you can arrive near closing without calling.
The property listing confirms a hot spring and an outdoor bath. It does not give a current tub temperature or a facility-specific water analysis. Seki Onsen’s reddish color is a district characteristic; do not treat it as a guarantee that every bath looks the same throughout the day. The listing also marks the outdoor bath unavailable in winter, which does not by itself mean the whole inn is closed.
Getting there without building a risky connection
The Seki–Tsubame Onsen municipal bus links Sekiyama Station with the mountain hot-spring area, but departures are limited and can vary by season. Check the current Myoko City timetable for both directions before choosing a bathing time. If the bus schedule leaves little room inside Nakamuraya’s listed window, do not force the visit just because the ticket is inexpensive. A taxi is another option, but arrange it rather than assuming one will be waiting at the stop.
There is a natural contrast between Seki’s red-tinged water and the milky outdoor baths at Tsubame Onsen. Visiting both in one day is possible only when the bus timetable, seasonal access and your walking pace line up. For the separate outdoor-bath conditions, see the Tsubame Onsen two-bath route guide.
Pack a face towel and bath towel unless the inn confirms what is available. No fixed day-use towel or rest-room inclusion is listed. If an outdoor bath is the reason for going, ask specifically whether it is open on your date, especially in the colder months.
