Sakai-hama Rakuten Onsen Shofuku Is Closed
Sakai-hama Rakuten Onsen Shofuku closed in March 2026. Check the address difference from Shofuku no Yu and compare open Osaka baths.
Sakai-hama Rakuten Onsen Shofuku permanently closed after business on Sunday, March 29, 2026. Its final reception was at 25:00 (1 a.m. on March 30); the doors closed at 26:00, or 2 a.m. Do not follow old listings that still show its hours, prices or spring details as if the facility were open.
Check the address: another Shofuku is still a separate place
Rakuten-buro Shofuku no Yu is not the Sakai-hama facility under a new name. Shofuku no Yu is at 3-301 Hamadera Funaocho-higashi, Nishi Ward; the closed bath was at 1-1 Chikko-Yawatacho, Sakai Ward, inside Sakai-hama Seaside Stage. The closure notice even lists Shofuku no Yu and Mizuki no Yu as separate venues where certain unexpired tickets could be used. If a map search returns simply “Shofuku,” confirm the address before setting out.
What the old bath offered—and what those records mean now
Before it closed, Sakai-hama Shofuku drew a natural spring from about 840 metres underground. Listings described a weakly alkaline simple spring, including a designated source-fed bath, outdoor pools, a pot bath, reclining bath and jacuzzi. The complex also had saunas, ganbanyoku (heated stone-bed rooms), food and rest areas, views toward the waterfront and a large car park. Its former long-hours and overnight-use options were part of the old facility’s offer; none is available there now.
An archived price of ¥880 on weekdays or ¥990 on weekends and holidays is historical too. It is not an admission price you can use in 2026, and the old spring description must not be transferred to the separate Shofuku no Yu.
Open alternatives by area and what you want from the visit
For a natural spring on the south side of Osaka, Spa Suminoe has a verified 700-metre source at 35.1°C and stays open until 2 a.m. It will not recreate Shofuku’s waterfront setting, but it is a practical late-evening replacement around Suminoe and Nanko.
If the source-fed bath was the feature you cared about, Tsurumi Ryokuchi Yukamoto Suisyun publishes source details of about 1,300 metres, 47°C and 430 litres per minute, and identifies an upper rock bath as source-fed. It is across the city, so choose it for the bath rather than the old Sakai-hama location.
Yao Onsen Kitanoyu is a lower-cost large bathhouse at ¥900 for all-day adult admission, but its “hot spring” is artificial; it is not a like-for-like natural-spring substitute. For a longer stop after visiting Shinsekai, Spa World starts at ¥1,500 for the basic adult ticket, with separate options such as ganbanyoku, pools and private family baths. Expect a busier sightseeing destination and a higher total if you add facilities.
Browse the Osaka day-use onsen guide if none of those areas fits your route. The old waterfront address is only useful if you are deliberately visiting the former site; there is no bath service to go to there.
