Sekigane Onsen Day Trip: Four Baths, Current Hours and Prices
Compare four day-use baths in Sekigane Onsen, Kurayoshi. Check current fees, opening windows, tattoo rules and the bus from Kurayoshi Station.
Sekigane Onsen has four day-bathing options, but they are not interchangeable. Sekinoyu is the ¥200 local bath with a very short, simple visit. Yumeikan is the dependable all-rounder if you want more baths and somewhere to rest. Hoshitori Terrace reopened its day-use bath on September 10, 2026, after a temporary closure. Torikai Ryokan is the quieter, call-ahead choice: its published details focus on the water, while walk-in hours are not posted.
| Bath | Adult admission | Published hours or status | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sekinoyu Community Bath | ¥200 for elementary-school age and up | Apr–Sep 6:30 a.m.–8 p.m.; Oct–Mar 7 a.m.–8 p.m. Closed on the 1st and 15th | A quick, low-cost soak; bring your own toiletries. |
| Sekigane Yumeikan | ¥820 | 10 a.m.–9 p.m.; last entry 8:30 p.m. Closed Mondays (Tuesday when Monday is a holiday) | A longer visit with indoor and outdoor bathing, a sauna and a rest room. |
| Hoshitori Terrace Sekigane | ¥1,100 | Day use 11 a.m.–4 p.m.; last entry 3 p.m. Usually unavailable Tue–Wed and on maintenance days | Sauna, outdoor bath and a hilltop setting; check the day’s schedule. |
| Torikai Ryokan | ¥500 in current local listings | Irregular closures; call before going. Regular day-use hours are not posted by the inn. | A traditional inn bath with two published spring analyses. |
Hours and closures can change, particularly at the two inns. The Kurayoshi tourism association’s current Sekigane Onsen bathing pass lists all four venues as participating facilities, but still advises checking for capacity limits and temporary maintenance closures.
Sekinoyu: a straightforward ¥200 bath
Sekinoyu is the easiest choice when you want a short soak without paying for a larger spa. Kurayoshi’s tourism association describes it as a source-fed community bath using Sekigane’s radium spring. Admission is ¥200 for elementary-school age and up. Bring shampoo, conditioner and body wash; none is supplied. The facility lists just three parking spaces, with a larger visitor car park nearby.
The water is the point here, not a long list of facilities. The public information identifies this as a simple hot-spring bath and describes it as source-flowing; it does not publish a full treatment breakdown for every bath. If you need a sauna, lounge or towel set, Yumeikan or Hoshitori is a better match.
Yumeikan: the easiest first visit
Yumeikan has indoor baths that rotate between a rock-bath and a wooden-bath layout, an outdoor bath, a sauna and a paid relaxation room. Guests may re-enter the baths while they remain inside.
| Detail | Current listing |
|---|---|
| Admission | Adults ¥820; elementary-school children ¥410; preschool children free |
| Hours / last entry | 10 a.m.–9 p.m. / 8:30 p.m. |
| Weekly closure | Monday; moves to Tuesday when Monday is a public holiday |
| Relaxation room | 11 a.m.–8 p.m.; ¥200 extra, rental robe included |
Shampoo and body wash are supplied; towels are an extra purchase or rental. Yumeikan does not admit guests with tattoos or tattoo stickers. That rule is specific to this venue.
Hoshitori Terrace: the sauna-and-outdoor-bath option
Hoshitori Terrace resumed day-use bathing on September 10, 2026. Its day-use window differs from the longer bathing schedule for overnight guests.
| Detail | Current listing |
|---|---|
| Admission | Adults ¥1,100; primary-school children ¥550; preschool children ¥330; age two and under free |
| Day-use hours / last entry | 11 a.m.–4 p.m. / 3 p.m. |
| Towel set | ¥440 rental |
| Usual unavailable days | Tuesday and Wednesday; maintenance or hotel closures may also suspend day use |
The bath has a sauna and outdoor area. Check the operator’s latest notice before leaving Kurayoshi.
Torikai Ryokan: call first, then decide
Torikai is a lodging property that also appears on the current Sekigane bathing pass. Its tourism-association page describes source-fed water and publishes two spring analyses: one at 37°C with pH 7.6 and another at 51°C with pH 8.1. The inn calls the water drinkable, but drinking spring water is not necessary for a bath visit; follow posted instructions and ask the operator if you have a health concern.
The inn does not publish regular day-use hours on its page, and the tourism association says closures are irregular. A ¥500 adult visit is listed by local sources, but the exact fee and whether walk-ins are being accepted should be confirmed by phone: +81 858-45-2121. It is a poor choice for a tightly timed bus connection unless the inn confirms your visit first.
Is the four-bath pass worth it?
| Pass term | Details |
|---|---|
| Price / listed separate-entry total | ¥1,500 / ¥2,620 |
| Visits included | One entry at each of the four baths |
| Valid through | January 31, 2027 |
| Availability | Limited quantity |
| Exclusions | Private-bath services and towel rentals; non-refundable |
For one or two stops, buying separate tickets is simpler. The pass starts to make sense if you genuinely plan to visit three or four venues, and if their schedules line up. It does not override a closure or guarantee entry when a bath is busy. Sekinoyu and Torikai also have limited parking; the association recommends using the Sekigane visitor car park.
Getting there without a car
Sekigane has no railway station. Japan Transportation’s regional bus line connects the hot-spring area with JR Kurayoshi Station, but it is not a frequent town service. The operator lists a timetable revised March 29, 2025; Kurayoshi tourism has announced another revision planned for October 1, 2026.
Check the operator’s current route page and timetable for both legs, especially for travel after that change. Yumeikan is about a 10-minute walk from the Sekigane Onsen stop, according to a current Kurayoshi tourism event notice.
If a bath’s last entry is important, plan backward from the bus you need to catch. Hoshitori’s public-bathing window ends much earlier than its overnight guest schedule, and the bus may not wait for a late soak. For another Tottori hot-spring town with a different set of day-use baths, see the Misasa Onsen day-bath guide or Iwai Onsen day-trip guide.
