Hotpia Shikano Day-Use Onsen: Prices, Baths and Access from Tottori

Plan a visit to Hotpia Shikano near Tottori: current admission, bath and sauna facilities, local bus caveats and nearby food options.

Hotpia Shikano is a good fit when you want more than a quick community-bath soak. The ¥550 adult ticket includes an indoor bath, an outdoor bath, a bubble bath, a cold plunge and a sauna; there is also a footbath beside the parking area. The facility sits in the Shikano area west of Tottori City, with a market and soba restaurant on the same site. It is easiest by car, though a local bus route serves the area on a limited schedule.

A full bath-and-sauna set at a modest price

Hotpia’s draw is the combination inside the regular bathing area. There is an indoor bath and open-air bath, alongside a bubble or jet bath, sauna and cold bath. That makes it an easier first stop for a mixed group than a small local bath with just one shared pool. The separate footbath by the front parking area is useful for anyone who does not want to use the bathing rooms.

The operator lists the spring source at 64.1°C and classifies it as a simple spring—weakly alkaline, low-tonicity and high-temperature at source. That number describes the source, not the temperature of every bath. The facility does not publish a complete bath-by-bath schedule for dilution, heating, circulation and disinfection, so do not assume all of the tubs are filled directly from the source.

There is a first-floor lounge with vending machines and massage chairs. The operator asks visitors not to eat in the lounge; use the restaurant next door if you want a meal after bathing. The adjoining Shikano Omoiromarket is another practical stop for local products before heading back.

Getting there without a car

Hotpia is at Imaichi in Shikano, not in central Tottori. The tourism operator highlights the Hamamura-Shikano Onsen interchange as the nearest expressway exit, about five minutes away by car. If you are travelling by public transport, Tottori City’s current community-bus information uses the name Ketaka-Shikano Bus and publishes routes and timetables updated from April 1, 2026. The current route map and timetable include Imaichi, but the bus service is limited and some runs are marked for weekdays only.

Before using the bus, match three things on the day’s schedule: the stop you will use, the walking route from that stop to the facility, and a return departure. The city lists the municipal bus fare as ¥200 per boarding. Do not assume a train arrival at Hamamura will connect with a bus immediately. If the public timetable does not line up, a taxi or rental car is more practical than trying to improvise at a rural stop.

Give the visit a little room

The market, soba shop and baths share one site, so a simple sequence is lunch, a soak, then a short rest before continuing. If you want to explore Shikano’s old castle-town streets as well, treat that as a separate stop and check its distance and transport before deciding how long to stay at the bath. Hotpia is not an onsen-town street bath beside a rail station; getting back to Tottori is part of the plan.

If you are choosing among Tottori’s day-use areas, compare this with Misasa’s public and ryokan baths or the Misasa half-day route without a car. For a coast-based stay further west, see the Kaike day-use bath guide and the Misasa-versus-Kaike comparison.
