Senju Tsurukame Onsen: Prices, Family Baths and Winter Hours

Plan a visit to Aomori’s Senju Tsurukame Onsen with updated admission, seasonal opening hours, private Sanpō family baths, facilities and bus access.

Senju Tsurukame Onsen is a practical stop in western Aomori for a natural-spring bath, sauna or private room. Adult admission is ¥470 on weekdays and ¥500 on weekends and national holidays. In winter, the public bath opens at 6 a.m. rather than 5 a.m.

Public bath or private Sanpō room?

The public bathing area includes indoor and outdoor baths, a high-temperature sauna, ganbanyoku stone bathing and an electric bath. The operator lists the sauna at 90°C for men and 80°C for women. If you want a low-cost soak and sauna, the public ticket is the simplest option. The stone-bathing area requires a large bath towel; towels and gowns can be rented for a fee.

Sanpō has ten family-bath rooms, each with a bath, changing space and a separate place to rest; one is described as accessible. The room rate is ¥1,700 for one hour, then ¥850 per additional 30 minutes. This is a room charge, not a per-person fare. Check availability and reservation terms with the facility before travelling.

Use the current seasonal schedule

Season or datePublic-bath hours
April 1–November 305 a.m.–10 p.m.
December 1–March 306 a.m.–10 p.m.
December 31Closes at 8 p.m.
March 316 a.m.–10 p.m.

Some older pages still show a 5 a.m. opening year-round; use the current operator listing for winter visits. Children in elementary school pay ¥100, preschoolers enter free, and visitors aged 65 and over pay ¥450. A book of 11 tickets is ¥5,000, or ¥4,800 on the 6th, 16th and 26th of each month. Check current notices before a long drive.

What the spring information does—and does not—say

The published classification is sodium-chloride spring. A commonly repeated older analysis lists a source temperature of 45.2°C, but it is not a verified 2026 measurement and should not be used as the current bath temperature. Older pages also describe flow-through water, but the current information does not give a complete, pool-by-pool treatment table. Treat the spring classification as confirmed; do not infer that every bath is untreated source water.

The bathhouse also notes that its electrical bath may not be suitable for everyone, including people with heart conditions or pregnant guests. Follow the posted warning at the facility. Tattoo rules for both the public baths and the private rooms are not clearly published; ask before travelling if this affects your choice.

Getting there and fitting it into a day

The Aomori City Bus stop “Senju Tsurukame Onsen-mae” is by the facility, served by the route toward Jikeikai Hospital. The inn is also within a short drive of Aomori IC and farther from the central rail stations: the operator lists about 15 minutes by taxi from Shin-Aomori Station and about 20 minutes from Aomori Station. This is a better match for a western Aomori itinerary, such as Sannai-Maruyama or the Shin-Aomori area, than for someone staying downtown and trying to squeeze in a quick bath.

For a central-city soak, compare the Aomori city bathhouse guide or Tsukuda Onsen Yū-Poppo. Drivers can also compare Kappa no Yu and Namioka Wanoyu based on which side of town they are visiting.
