Seiryu no Yu is a practical day-bath stop on the outer stretch of Shima Onsen. The ¥600 adult ticket covers two hours and includes access to indoor and outdoor baths, a conversation room and a riverside space. The detail that matters most for planning is its temporary schedule: the current published hours are 10 a.m.–5 p.m., with last entry at 4:30 p.m.

The town and tourism association pages retain older text showing an 8 p.m. close and weekday evening fee. The same official pages also say the facility is currently operating on shortened hours. Use 5 p.m. as the closing time unless a newer notice says otherwise. Maintenance or equipment trouble can bring extra closures, so check the association’s latest notice on the day of your visit.
What is inside
Each bathing side has an indoor public bath and outdoor pools; the association names them Hyotan-no-yu, Oborozuki-no-yu, Ogi-no-yu and Yahane-no-yu. There is also a spring-water drinking station, a conversation room and a small riverside plaza. Paid private rooms are available, subject to the facility’s current terms.
Nakanojo Town lists the spring type as sodium-calcium chloride-sulfate. The pages reviewed do not publish a facility-specific source temperature, pH, flow rate or detailed treatment conditions for each bath. A confirmed hot-spring classification does not supply those missing measurements.
Is two hours worth the fare?
For a quick rinse and one soak, the three free community baths may be enough. Seiryu no Yu makes more sense if you want to move between indoor and outdoor pools, sit in the conversation room afterwards or build a longer pause into the day. The ticket is time-limited, so arriving near 4:30 p.m. does not leave a full two-hour visit before the facility closes.
The bath is at 3830-1 Shima, Nakanojo. The local bus serves the Seiryu-no-yu-iriguchi stop, making it a useful first or last stop when travelling up the valley. Check the bus calendar as well as the bath notice; some local departures are marked services rather than daily runs. If you are comparing it with the small free baths, see the Shima community-bath guide or the no-car transport guide.
The facility refuses guests with tattoos and guests who are intoxicated. Its accessibility information notes that a ramp is available, but the toilet is not wheelchair-adapted and assistance is needed. If you or a companion need support inside the building, contact the facility before setting out.
