Konohana no Yu in Gotemba: Public Bath or Private Fuji-View Bath?

Konohana no Yu’s public bath includes towels, sauna and Fuji-facing pools; reserve a Kaden room for private bathing and its upper-floor view.

Checked: September 28, 2026

Konohana no Yu sits within Gotemba Premium Outlets, but it is not just a place to wash off after shopping. The facility has a natural spring, a large public bath and 19 private open-air rooms. The useful decision is whether you need privacy or want the better viewing angle—not whether the standard bath is missing the main experience.

Start with the public bath

Public-bath detailCurrent terms
Hours10:30 a.m.–10 p.m.; last admission 9 p.m.
Adults¥1,800 weekdays; ¥2,200 weekends and holidays
Children (age 3 through elementary school)¥950 weekdays; ¥1,150 weekends and holidays
IncludedFace and bath towel rentals, plus taxes
Arrive by 1 p.m.¥400 off adult admission; ¥200 off a child ticket

The operator calls the last offer an “early-morning” discount, but it applies to arrivals before 1 p.m.; the bath does not open at dawn. Prices above have applied since July 1, 2026.

Men’s and women’s outdoor areas each have a standing bath about 130 cm deep and a roughly 10-metre-wide viewing bath. The indoor bathing area is different: its 90 cm-deep pool uses groundwater, alongside a carbonated bath and a seated bath. If you came for the hot spring, give the outdoor baths priority rather than assuming all pools contain spring water.

The spring is named Gotemba Konohana Onsen and classified as a sodium-sulfate, chloride and bicarbonate spring. The facility says it may add water only for an emergency, but it also uses circulation filtration, heats the water as needed and disinfects it with chlorine-based agents. This is not a source-flow bath. The operator does not publish a current source temperature or flow rate on its main bath page, so older figures should not be presented as freshly verified data.

When a private Kaden room is worth booking

Kaden has 19 private open-air rooms, booked by the hour. Each rate includes towels, public-bath admission and taxes; two public-bath tickets are not an extra charge.

RoomCapacityWeekday rateWeekend/holiday rateView
First floor (9 rooms)Up to 2¥5,500¥6,000Not specified
Third floor (7 rooms)Up to 2¥6,500¥7,000All face Mount Fuji
Larger rooms (3 rooms)Up to 6¥7,500¥8,000Not specified

All rates cover one hour.

For two adults, a first-floor room is ¥1,900 above two weekday public-bath tickets, or ¥1,600 above two weekend tickets. The difference buys a private bath and changing space. A third-floor room adds ¥1,000 on weekdays for a Fuji-facing position; clouds and rain can still obscure the view. If you need step-free access or assistance with transfers, confirm the room’s layout with the property—the “universal style” label alone does not establish that it will meet your needs.

Rooms include the public bath, so guests can use both the private bath and the large bath during their visit. Thirty-minute extensions cost half the room’s one-hour rate. The private baths are available by reservation; check current availability and any seasonal surcharge directly with the facility.

Practical rules and access

The facility lifted its tattoo-based bathing restriction in 2025 and currently describes itself as tattoo-friendly. Children under three cannot use the public bath; anyone who wears a diaper is barred from bathing regardless of age. Children aged seven and over may not bathe with an opposite-sex adult under Shizuoka’s rules. A private room does not override the diaper rule.

From JR Gotemba Station, the free outlet shuttle takes about 15 minutes. The facility has 320 dedicated spaces shared with HOTEL CLAD; the operator lists a drive of about five minutes from the Gotemba or Ashigara Smart interchanges. If driving, use the onsen/hotel parking rather than leaving the car in the general outlet lot: outlet parking can lock after the shops close, and the onsen does not permit leaving and re-entering during a visit. Dedicated parking is free while using the facility; other periods may be charged.
