Hosenyu is temporarily closed as of September 27, 2026. The Taito Sento Association says a well-water pump failure forced the closure on September 23. No reopening date has been announced, so do not plan a visit until the operator posts a new update.
Its usual bathing setup
When operating, Hosenyu is a traditional neighbourhood sento rather than a natural hot spring or a large spa. Its main bath has jet, bubble and electric-bath sections. A separate herbal bath changes daily and is fitted with a fine mist spray above the water. There is also a cold plunge.
The sauna is a conventional dry, far-infrared room, not an automatic steam or aufguss attraction. The bathhouse does not have a dedicated outdoor-air rest area. A tropical-fish tank near the entrance and a mosaic-style Venus mural are part of its old-school character; photography rules still apply in bathing and changing areas.
Typical prices, only for future planning
The adult public-bath tariff in Tokyo is ¥600 from August 1, 2026. Hosenyu’s published sauna surcharge is ¥300, so the usual adult bath-and-sauna total would be ¥900 when the bathhouse reopens. A towel set is ¥100; a face towel is listed as free, and shampoo and body wash are supplied. These are normal operating details, not confirmation that the facility is currently open.
Before the closure, the regular schedule was 3 p.m.–midnight, with Mondays off. Hosenyu is about a five-minute walk from Iriya Station and roughly five minutes from Uguisudani Station’s south exit.
