Seiunsou Private Bath for Day Visitors: Price, Booking and Access

Seiunsou’s private bath is useful when a couple or family wants to bathe together in Unzen’s milky sulphur water. It is not the cheapest way to get in the water, and day visitors cannot reserve a slot in advance. The room fee is ¥2,500 for 50 minutes, with ordinary admission charged separately. For two adults, budget ¥4,260 before towels or other spending.

The property is a better fit if you also want its public indoor and outdoor baths, resting area and ryokan setting. If a private room is the only thing you need, Unzen Yokayu’s family baths usually cost less for two adults.

The ¥2,500 fee is not the group’s total

The room charge and entry fee are separate. The examples below exclude transport, food and other purchases.

For one person, the same private room plus admission costs ¥3,380. That can be worthwhile if privacy is essential, but it is a steep add-on when a regular public bath would do.

There is no advance booking for a day visit

Overnight guests may reserve a private bath ahead of time. Day visitors cannot. Ask at reception when you arrive and decide based on the available slots. The day-use window is 11 a.m.–6 p.m.; the last reception for a private bath is listed as 5 p.m. Turning up just before 5 does not guarantee a full 50-minute session, particularly if the baths are already booked.

This is the main planning constraint. If you have a bus to catch or need the bath at a specific time, call Seiunsou before travelling and ask what is available that day. Keep the public baths as a fallback rather than building a tightly timed itinerary around a private slot.

School groups can temporarily affect access. Seiunsou’s 2026 notices include dates when students use the indoor and private baths, with the outdoor bath expected to remain available. The listed dates include September 29 and 30, with further dates later in the year. Check the property’s current notice for your visit rather than relying on the ordinary day-use hours alone.

What the private bath is—and is not

Seiunsou says its outdoor bath, indoor bath and private bath all use free-flowing spring water. The water is described as a simple sulphur spring from Unzen’s Kojigoku source. The current analysis lists a source temperature of 51.1°C; that is not a stated temperature for every bathing pool. The property also says it cools the water with local spring water before it reaches a tub when needed, and that the baths are drained and cleaned daily.

The private room is not advertised as an open-air bath. Seiunsou’s scenic forest-and-stream bath is the public outdoor bath. Do not assume the private room has the same view or outdoor layout from photos of the wider property. If a private open-air bath is a must, ask the property which room is offered before setting out.

The walk from the bus stop is part of the plan

The nearest bus stop is Kojigoku-iriguchi. Seiunsou describes the property as about a 12-minute walk from the stop; the route is not the same as the shorter walk between the ryokan and the separate Kojigoku Onsenkan. Buses run from Nagasaki, Isahaya and Shimabara, but a late-closing bath does not guarantee a convenient return service. Check the return timetable before you choose a bathing time.

The property says local transfers within the Unzen hot-spring area may be available; contact them to confirm whether a day visitor can use one and how to arrange it. If you are driving, the property lists free parking for up to 200 cars.

Is Seiunsou the right private bath?

Choose Seiunsou if you want privacy plus access to a larger ryokan bathing experience, and you can be flexible about the exact private-bath time. The extra spend is easier to justify if you will also use the public outdoor bath. Choose Yokayu if the shared room is the main requirement and a lower total matters more.

For children or older travellers, weigh the walk from Kojigoku-iriguchi and the bath’s entry steps alongside the private-room price. Seiunsou does not publish a full accessibility specification on the day-use page, so ask about assistance, changing space and the day’s available room before travelling. Tattoo acceptance is not stated as one day-use rule; confirm with the property rather than assuming a private booking settles every policy question.
