Yumemi no Oka: A ¥500 Day Bath Above the Kofu Basin
Yumemi no Oka charges ¥500 for a source-flowing bath, sauna and outdoor pool; check its child and tattoo rules before visiting.
Checked: September 27, 2026
At ¥500 for an adult, Yumemi no Oka is an easy stop to add to a drive around Kai or the Kofu Basin. The low entry price does not mean a bare-bones bath: the operator calls it a source-flowing hot spring, and the prefectural tourism listing also includes an outdoor bath and sauna. Men’s bathing area is listed as having a view of Mt Fuji. The view depends on weather, of course, and the women’s bath faces a different direction.
The prefecture lists hours of 10 am to 10 pm and admission of ¥500 for adults and ¥300 for children aged four through elementary school. Its listing says the facility closes on the first Thursday of even-numbered months; the operator’s site gives the same closure rule. Check the date before you go, as this is not a seven-day operation.
What the low admission gets you
The public listings describe indoor baths at different temperatures, an outdoor bath, sauna and cold plunge. That range is useful if you prefer moving between warmer and cooler water instead of settling into a single large pool. The venue’s published spring analysis is from 2022, so any specific source temperature, pH or flow figure should be read as analysis data from that year, not a fresh 2026 measurement.
Bring your own towel if you want to keep the visit close to the admission price. Paid towel options are available, but the operator’s site is the place to check the current rental price.
Rules worth knowing before the drive
The facility’s own bathing rules say people with tattoos are not admitted. The same page excludes diaper-dependent children and people using incontinence underwear from the baths. Children from the first year of elementary school are asked to use the bath matching their gender. These are firm enough to check before making Yumemi no Oka the centrepiece of a family stop.
The address is in Kai City, west of central Kofu. The local bus system lists a stop near the facility, while Shiozaki Station is the nearest rail station for a taxi connection. If you are travelling by bus, use the current municipal timetable rather than assuming a frequent service; a car or pre-booked taxi gives more flexibility for the return trip.
Yumemi no Oka is best treated as a straightforward local bath with a particularly good price-to-facility mix. It is not a resort spa, and its appeal is strongest when it already fits your route through Kai.
