Katsunuma’s Tenku no Yu: Visit Before the October Closure

Tenku no Yu is due to close from October 13, 2026, through March 2027. Before then, admission is ¥840 for up to three hours; the mist sauna is closed.

Checked: September 27, 2026

If you are going to Katsunuma Budounooka for a bath, the calendar matters more than the view: Tenku no Yu is still open through October 12, 2026, then closes for major renovation from October 13 until the end of March 2027. The operator plans to reopen in spring 2027, but has not given a firm date or published the post-renovation facilities and prices.

If you go before October 13

The current visitor price is ¥840 for adults and ¥530 for elementary-school children. Admission is limited to three hours.

The bath is open 8 am–10 pm, with last admission at 9 pm; the facility lists no regular closing day, apart from maintenance or operational closures.

The spring is classified as an alkaline simple hot spring. Budounooka lists a source temperature of 41°C, pH 9.5 and a daily yield of 200 tonnes. Those figures describe the source; they do not tell you the temperature or treatment method of every bathing pool. The operator does not advertise the whole facility as untreated source-flowing water.

The site has indoor and outdoor baths, a whirlpool and a tatami rest area. Its mist sauna is explicitly marked as temporarily closed, so do not plan around using it. The facility also asks guests to keep bathing to three hours. Babies who still need diapers are not admitted to the shared bath.

The closure is specific to the bath and lounge

From October 13, the renovation affects Tenku no Yu and the attached Onsen Lounge. Budounooka says its shops and restaurants will continue operating as usual. A restaurant or winery visit therefore remains possible during the closure, but it will not include a day-use bath.

For a replacement soak after October 12, consider the Kofu public bath guide if you will be closer to the city, or check other Koshu baths before finalizing your route. Do not substitute an old Tenku no Yu timetable for a confirmed spring 2027 reopening notice.

Getting up to Budounooka

The venue stands directly above Katsunumabudokyo Station, but the walk is steep and takes about 15–20 minutes. The venue’s access page also lists municipal buses for weekdays and weekends, with different timetables, and a taxi stand outside the station. If you have luggage, limited mobility or a tight train connection, use the bus or taxi rather than assuming the short map distance means an easy walk.

When the bath reopens, check the official site for its revised hours, ticket rules, sauna availability and any new footbath. Until the operator posts those details, treat the current ¥840 rate and facilities as pre-renovation information only.
