Yufuin Onsen Temperature: Spring Source vs Bath Water
A 62°C spring does not mean a 62°C bath. See what Yufuin inns publish about source and use-point temperatures, and what to ask if you are sensitive to heat.

Yufuin Gettouan lists its spring at 62°C and its use-point water at 42°C, with water added for temperature control. The second figure is not a year-round reading for every tub on the property.
For most Yufuin inns, published information describes the source or water supply, not a measured temperature for each bath.
Source temperature and bath temperature answer different questions
Source temperature describes spring water before it reaches a bath. Bath temperature is a reading from a particular tub at a particular time. Water may be added or heated on the way; flow, pipe length, tub size and outdoor weather also affect the result. Even two baths at one inn can feel different.
“Flow-through” means water enters and leaves the bath; it does not rule out added water or heating. Gettouan describes its bath as flow-through and says it adds water to adjust temperature. See the Yufuin onsen water-treatment guide for other supply arrangements.

Gettouan gives the clearest example—not a promise about every tub
Gettouan is the only inn in this comparison that publishes both a source figure and a use-point figure. Its 18 villas each have an open-air bath, but the site does not say that every tub stays at 42°C. If you need a particular temperature, ask which bath the reading describes and whether staff can adjust the bath in your room.
How much can you tell from the other inns?
Souan Kosumosu says its spring runs hot and staff adjust the water volume; it gives no fixed temperature. Baien describes its main baths as flow-through and its FAQ says detached-room baths also use spring water. Tanokura lists two flow-through public baths, while Hananomai lists public and private-use baths with natural flow-through water. None publishes individual tub temperatures.
At Yufuin Ubl Hotel, ten special rooms have private indoor spring baths; standard rooms use the public baths. Some booking plans describe the special-room water as 100% source-fed and flow-through. That description does not establish a temperature for the public baths.

If you are sensitive to heat, ask about the exact bath
If temperature matters, ask for a reading from the specific bath you plan to use and whether staff can adjust it. Make the request before the free-cancellation deadline if it affects your booking.
