Yumoto Yunokawa Day Bath: Prices, Private Baths and Access

Yumoto Yunokawa charges ¥2,500 for its private bath. Check day-use prices, reservation timing and access from Izumo Airport or Shobara Station.

Yumoto Yunokawa suits visitors who want a private bath or a clearly documented flow-through spring. For two adults, the minimum with a private room is ¥4,300; the room fee and each person’s admission are charged separately.

This small inn is less suited to a late visit or a casual walk-in than the area’s public bathhouses. Day use is listed from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with last reception at 3 p.m.; the inn has irregular closing days and may occasionally decline day visitors. Confirm before making a special trip.

What the ¥900 admission includes

The ordinary ticket gives access to the inn’s public bath. It is not a pass for the private baths, and it does not include a sauna or a large spa complex. Shimane’s tourism listing describes the water as 100% natural hot spring, flowing directly from the source. It lists a sodium-calcium sulfate-chloride spring with a source temperature of 50.5°C.

That 50.5°C figure is the source temperature, not a confirmed temperature for the bath pool. The published sources do not provide a current individual pH or flow rate for this property, so figures for the larger Yunokawa area should not be substituted. The useful distinction is the documented water-treatment description, not an assumed bathing temperature.

The public bath is the straightforward choice if you want to try the inn’s spring without booking a room. If you only want the cheapest soak or need evening hours, compare the public facilities in the three-bath Yunokawa guide.

A private bath costs more than the posted fee

Day visitors can book one of three private baths for 50 minutes. The ¥2,500 charge covers the room, while each bather also pays the ¥900 public-bath admission fee.

PartyPrivate bathAdmissionMinimum total
One adult¥2,500¥900¥3,400
Two adults¥2,500¥1,800¥4,300
Three adults¥2,500¥2,700¥5,200

The property lists the room charge as one flat fee, so the per-person cost falls as more people share it. At the current approximate exchange rates, the two-person minimum is about HK$216 / NT$879.

The property’s listing says reservations open from 9 a.m. on the day before use. Contact the inn then, confirm that the desired slot is available, and separately verify that day-use bathing is being accepted on your date. A reservation for a private bath does not remove the possibility of a short-notice change to day-use access.

Overnight guests have different terms: the inn lists complimentary use of its three private baths for staying guests, available around the clock. That benefit should not be assumed for day visitors.

It fits best around a flight or a drive

Shobara Station is roughly 15–20 minutes on foot, depending on the listing. That walk may be manageable without luggage, but it is not an easy station-to-door transfer in heavy rain, summer heat or with a large suitcase. The inn is about seven minutes by car from Izumo Airport and the Shinjō IC / Hikawa IC area, with roughly 40 free parking spaces.

For drivers, a soak can fit on the airport side of an Izumo itinerary: pick up a rental car, bathe before continuing to Izumo Taisha, or stop before returning the car. It does not work well for a late-arriving flight, because last reception is 3 p.m. A later arrival is better matched to Hikawa Bijin no Yu or Shikisō, whose ordinary bathing hours extend into the evening.

Without a car, the station walk and short day-use window make the visit possible but not effortless. Allow time for the return walk and train, and do not build a close airport connection around a bath reservation. If a private bath is your reason for going, contact the inn before travelling; if it is merely a convenient soak, a more flexible public bath may save time.

How it compares with the ¥700 options

Hikawa Bijin no Yu and Shikisō both list adult admission at ¥700, ¥200 less than Yumoto’s ¥900. Yumoto’s edge is its published flow-through-water description and bookable private baths, not a lower-cost soak.

Pick Hikawa Bijin no Yu for a lower-cost public bath with evening hours. Shikisō is the one to consider for early-morning bathing, a wooded outdoor setting or a separately priced Finnish-style sauna. See the direct Hikawa Bijin no Yu versus Shikisō comparison if those are your real alternatives.
