Day-Use Onsen in Tamatsukuri: Five Baths, Prices and Opening Windows
Compare day-use baths at Yuyu and four Tamatsukuri ryokan by price, hours and facilities. Check same-day access; Hotel Gyokusen’s published fees conflict.
Checked: September 28, 2026
Tamatsukuri’s day-use baths are not one interchangeable row of hot-spring hotels. Yuyu is the low-cost public bath in the riverside district. Tamatsukuri International Hotel sits by Lake Shinji, apart from the main onsen street. Three ryokan—Hotel Gyokusen, Matsunoyu and Kasuien Minami—accept outside bathers in specific windows, but their hours and access can be affected by cleaning, occupancy or maintenance.
| Bath | Adult admission | Child admission |
|---|---|---|

| Kasuien Minami | ¥1,600 | ¥800 for elementary-school children |
Hotel Gyokusen’s published pages disagree on the adult fee; ask which rate applies to your date.

Yuyu’s early opening applies on Sundays, public holidays and selected dates; the sauna is closed during that session. Rates and schedules were checked on September 28, 2026. Confirm day-use access with a ryokan before setting out.
Start with your arrival time
Yuyu is the simplest choice for an inexpensive soak in the onsen district. Body wash and rinse-in shampoo are provided; bring a bath towel or rent one. The early-morning session is limited to Sundays, public holidays and selected holiday periods, and the sauna is closed then.
Tamatsukuri International Hotel is separate from the riverside walking route, about a five-minute drive from the onsen street. Its outdoor bath looks across Lake Shinji. Towels are available to rent.
Ryokan baths need a same-day check
Matsunoyu’s sauna opens with day-use bathing. Its four private outdoor baths are a separate paid option, subject to availability, and use heated water rather than hot-spring water; the public bath is the natural onsen option.
Kasuien Minami suits a shorter midday visit. Day visitors can use only the first-floor public bath, according to the local onsen association.
Hotel Gyokusen’s evening window is the one that overlaps with sauna hours; the shorter midday session does not. Its published admission prices conflict, so confirm the rate for your date with the hotel.
Which bath fits this visit?
Choose Yuyu if price and a central location matter most. Pick Matsunoyu if you want an afternoon or evening ryokan bath with sauna. Kasuien Minami only works for a Saturday-to-Monday midday visit. The lakeside hotel is its own plan, best paired with Lake Shinji rather than a long walk through the onsen street. Hotel Gyokusen can be a good evening stop, but confirm both the current fee and the opening window first.
For the two early-morning options, see the Tamatsukuri morning onsen guide. If you are relying on buses or arriving at JR Tamatsukuri Onsen Station, the half-day guide without a car covers the last leg into town. The spring-quality guide explains why a shared resort name does not tell you how each bath is supplied.
