Awazu Onsen Soyu: Prices, Hours and What to Bring

Awazu Onsen Soyu in Komatsu costs ¥500 and opens 8 a.m.–10 p.m. Bring towels and toiletries; it closes Tuesdays and has no sauna.

Awazu Onsen Soyu makes most sense as a stop while you are already around Komatsu, Natadera Temple or Yunokuni no Mori. It is a local-style public bath, not a resort with a sauna, private bathing rooms or a long list of facilities. The main bath has built-in steps at different depths, which gives you a little more choice than one deep pool with a single water level.

These are the current prices listed by Komatsu’s tourism site. Older pages still show different prices or days off, so check the operator’s notice if you are making a special trip. Extra closures may apply for maintenance or at year-end.

Pack your own towel and toiletries

There is no shampoo provided at the washing area. Towels and bathing supplies are sold at the facility, but a full current price list is not published. Bring a small towel, shampoo and body wash if you want to avoid extra purchases; the ¥500 admission fee alone does not cover those items.

The spring is described as a sodium-sulfate and chloride hot spring. Komatsu’s current visitor information does not give a full set of source-temperature, pH and flow-rate figures, nor does it publish the treatment method for each tub. Older pages quote figures such as 50.9°C and pH 8.1, but those come from analysis records dating to around 2008 and should not be presented as current measurements. The bath uses Awazu’s natural spring water; there is not enough current detail to label it 100% free-flowing.

The bathhouse opened in its present location in 2008. Its design takes cues from a traditional Japanese bathhouse, while the stepped main tub lets bathers choose a shallower or deeper spot. There is no sauna, cold plunge or outdoor bath, so look elsewhere if those are essential to your visit.

Getting there without a car

From Komatsu Station, take the Hokutetsu Kaga Bus Awazu Line and get off at Awazu Onsen. Awazu Station is not next door to the bathhouse: the drive from the rail station takes about ten minutes. Check the return bus before settling in for an evening soak, since the bath’s late closing time does not mean buses run just as late.

The bath has ten parking spaces. Natadera Temple and Yunokuni no Mori are nearby by car, making the bath an easy end to a day in southern Komatsu. The free footbath in the hot-spring district is listed as open from 6:30am to 9:50pm; it is a handy short stop, but it is not a substitute for a full bath.

Is it the right public bath for your day?

Choose Awazu Soyu for a simple, low-cost soak when you are already in the area and do not mind a communal bath. It is less suited to a half-day spent using different facilities: there is no sauna, private bath or outdoor pool, and the toiletries are not included.

The bath is closed on Tuesdays. If that is the only day you can visit, the district’s footbath remains an option, or you can look for a nearby inn that accepts day visitors. Check its day-use rules before travelling; access can depend on the date and occupancy.

Tattoos and bathing etiquette

Awazu Soyu does not publish a tattoo rule; ask the bathhouse before visiting if you have visible tattoos. Wash at the shower station before entering, and keep towels out of the shared bathwater.
