Hita Family Baths: Four Private Onsen, Compared by Price and Access
Compare four Hita private baths by room rate, session length and access, from Gensenya by Yoake Station to Umenoyu’s valley-side rooms.
“Family bath” can mean very different things in Hita. One facility charges per person for its public bath and separately rents private rooms; another has only private baths; a third is close to a small JR station. The useful comparison is not simply how many tubs each place has, but what the quoted price buys and how much effort the last leg takes.

These are room prices, not per-person admission, except where noted. A two-person party does not double a private-room rate. Check the selected room, day type and session length before setting a budget: facilities sometimes list a starting price rather than one price for every tub.
Near the station: Gensenya keeps the rules clear
Gensenya, formerly known as Yoake Yakuto Onsen, has four private baths. The private-room fee covers the bath; its shared bath is charged separately per person.

The location is unusually practical for a private bath: Yoake Station is about a five-minute walk away. Gensenya is open 10 a.m.–8 p.m., closes on Tuesdays (except when a holiday changes the schedule), and stops accepting private-bath guests at 7 p.m. The public-bath cutoff is 7:30 p.m. Bring soap and shampoo for a private session; the rooms do not provide them. Guests with tattoos are excluded from the public bath, and the facility recommends a private room instead.
Later bathing: Senraku stays open past midnight
Senraku’s eight private rooms include four rock baths, two cut-stone baths and two cypress baths. A 50-minute session is ¥1,900 for rock or cut stone and ¥2,100 for cypress. Extensions on the current price page are ¥200 per ten minutes.
Senraku opens at 11 a.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. on weekends and holidays. It closes at midnight, with last reception at 11 p.m., later than the other three baths listed here.
Senraku is not beside Hita Station. Its access information gives the address and parking details but no reliable walking route, so take a taxi or drive. Its tattoo policy is unconfirmed; ask before travelling if that affects your choice.
More rooms and a riverside public bath: Yumeyama-sui
Yumeyama-sui has 16 private baths in seven styles, including stone, pot, barrel and hinoki tubs.

Baths remain open until 9:50 p.m.
The private baths have windows overlooking greenery, but the official description does not label all 16 as open-air. The public open-air bath is a separate product beside the Takase River.

Its water information applies to the public bath, not every private tub.
From Hita Station or the bus terminal, the facility estimates about ten minutes by car. Its access page also points to the city’s B-course loop bus and names Seiwa-cho and Kotohira-tei Kominkan-mae as the closest stops. Check the timetable for your date and confirm the walk from the stop before relying on that connection.
Valley setting and 24 private rooms: Umenoyu
Umenoyu in Oyama has 24 private rooms. Oita Prefecture’s current listing describes valley views and a coin-timer system that replaces the bath water for each party. Its published starting rates and schedule are:

That regional tourism listing is the clearest current summary, but Umenoyu’s own pages show room-by-room options and have carried differing older session details. If a specific room or exact soak length matters, confirm its price and time limit directly. The official tourism page lists 50 parking spaces and a 25-minute drive from Hita Station; this is the least convenient choice here without a car or arranged ride.
Which bath fits your day?
Choose Gensenya for the lowest clearly published price and the simplest rail access. Senraku suits people who need a late last admission. Yumeyama-sui has the broadest selection of tub styles and combines private rooms with a separate riverside public bath. Umenoyu is the one to consider when a valley-view private room is the point of going to Oyama.
