Kamokimi no Yu in Gose: Private Baths, Prices and How to Get There
Plan a visit to Kamokimi no Yu in Gose, Nara: weekday and peak-date admission, two 90-minute private baths, separate entry fees and access details.
Kamokimi no Yu is easier to justify when your plans already include Gose, Katsuragi or Mount Kongō. The complex has two rotating public-bath layouts, outdoor bathing, saunas, a restaurant and rest rooms. Its private baths are the detail worth checking before you go: each has a different sauna, both run in fixed 90-minute slots, and the ¥2,500 room charge does not cover admission.
Admission and booking a private bath
| Detail | Current information |
|---|---|
| Adults, junior-high age and up | ¥700 on ordinary weekdays; ¥800 on weekends and public holidays |
| Children aged 3 and up | ¥350 |
| Under 3 | Free |
| 2026 designated busy dates | ¥800 adult admission, including specified dates around Golden Week, Obon, year-end and New Year |
| Adult book of 10 tickets | ¥6,000 |
| Private bath | ¥2,500 for 90 minutes, plus each guest’s admission |
The city publishes a separate busy-period calendar, so a weekday is not always a ¥700 day. If you are visiting on a date around a Japanese holiday period, check the municipal fee notice instead of relying on a weekday/weekend rule alone.
Both private rooms can be booked by phone or at reception. Each 90-minute slot costs ¥2,500, and every guest also pays the regular admission fee.
| Room | Facility | Start times |
|---|---|---|
| I | Tent sauna and television | 11am, 1pm, 3pm, 5pm, 7pm, 9pm |
| II | Far-infrared sauna | 10:30am, 12:30pm, 2:30pm, 4:30pm, 6:30pm, 8:30pm |
For two adults, the room plus admission comes to ¥3,900 on an ordinary weekday or ¥4,100 on a weekend, public holiday or designated busy day. Those totals exclude extras.
The city’s 2026 calendar also lists October 8 as a free-admission day for eligible Gose residents; it is not a free day for everyone. A temporary closure is scheduled for November 4, 2026. Confirm notices before travelling, especially around maintenance dates.
What the shared baths are like
The two public bathing areas, Tsurunoyu and Kamenoyu, have different designs and switch between men and women daily. The operator lists outdoor baths, cypress and rock baths, a sauna and a carbonated bath, as well as restaurant and free rest-room facilities for bathers. The exact layout available to you depends on the day’s changeover.
Kamokimi’s spring is classified as sodium-bicarbonate/chloride, with a source temperature of 28.4°C. That figure describes the water at its source, not the bathing pools. The facility lists no pool-by-pool temperatures or handling details, so the 28.4°C reading should not be taken as the temperature or supply method of every tub.
Guests with tattoos, including sticker tattoos, are refused admission under the operator’s current rules. The facility says it is open year-round, but advises visitors to call about closures. Check its announcements for maintenance days before setting off.
Reaching the facility
Kamokimi no Yu is at 333 Iokay, Gose, with free parking for 220 cars. The operator directs rail passengers to take a route bus from Kintetsu Gose Station and get off at Kamokimi no Yu. It does not promise a dedicated shuttle, and a current bus frequency is not stated on the facility page; check the relevant service in both directions before building an outing around public transport.
The facility is a substantial detour from Nara Park and central Nara if the bath is your only stop. If your trip is already heading toward Gose or Katsuragi, it can fit naturally into the day. For a smaller private bathing facility in eastern Nara with different eligibility rules, compare Himeshi no Yu in Mitsue.

Choose by route and private-bath needs
Kamokimi is strongest when Gose or Katsuragi is already on your itinerary, or when you can use the reservable 90-minute room and pay its separate entry charges. If you are choosing between two southern Nara baths, Akino no Yu has a more extensive rotating bath and pool setup; Himeshi no Yu is closer to Mitsue and Nabari but restricts its private baths to specific circumstances.
