Haccho Onsen in Osaka: Sunday Morning Baths and Late Nights in Nishiyodogawa
Haccho Onsen opens at 8:30am Sundays and stays open until 1am Tuesday–Saturday. See prices, sauna, parking and how its soft water differs from spring water.
Haccho Onsen is a useful neighborhood sento for two windows: Sunday from 8:30am, or Tuesday through Saturday until 1am. It has a dry sauna, outdoor bath, cold bath, medicinal bath and soft-water bathing. The name can be misleading, though: the current sources do not provide a natural-spring analysis. Choose it for the hours and facilities, not as a documented onsen.
| Day | Listed hours | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Monday | Closed | Regular day off |
| Tuesday–Saturday | 3pm–1am | The late closing is the main draw; leave time to get back to the station |
| Sunday | 8:30am–midnight | Works for a morning bath as well as an afternoon or evening visit |
The operator’s current page gives those hours. An older association listing describes Sunday morning bathing as 8:30am–noon and says the 1am closing does not apply on Sundays. Since the newer operator page gives Sunday hours through midnight, use that for planning and check the operator’s notices for temporary changes. Even so, do not assume the Sunday morning and late-night pattern applies on a Monday, when the bath is closed.
Admission and small extras
Haccho’s own page lists these admission prices; the association’s current general tariff instead counts junior-high students as adults.
| Visitor | Haccho page | Association tariff |
|---|---|---|
| Adult | ¥600 | ¥600 |
| Junior-high student | ¥450 | ¥600 |
| Elementary-school child | ¥200 | — |
| Younger child | ¥100 | — |
Budget ¥600 for an adult. If a junior-high fare matters to your group, confirm the current price at the front desk.
The operator lists a rental bath towel for ¥100, and small soap, shampoo and conditioner at ¥40 each. No current sauna surcharge is clearly published in the cited material, so ask before buying a ticket if that affects your total.
Saturday may be attractive to families. Osaka City’s January 2026 Nishiyodogawa bathhouse feature says children bathe free that day, but does not define the eligible ages, and the operator’s main price page does not spell out the offer. Confirm who qualifies before making a special trip for the discount.
Baths and sauna: allow about 90 minutes for the full circuit
The facility list includes a dry sauna, cold bath, soft-water bath, medicinal bath, outdoor bath, electric bath, jet bath, seated bath, a lounge and runner-friendly facilities. With about 90 minutes, there is time to wash, soak, use the sauna, cool off and rest outside. If you have only 45 minutes, keep it to a wash and a main bath, then decide whether the sauna fits. You do not need to tick off every bath.
Soft water describes treatment and hardness, which can affect how soap lathers and how the water feels on skin. It does not prove the presence of a natural hot spring. The reviewed material does not publish a source name, spring analysis, source temperature, pH, flow rate or which specific baths—if any—use natural spring water.
Getting there and parking
The address is 3-10-2 Mitejima in Nishiyodogawa Ward. The Osaka Public Bath Association lists about a 12-minute walk from either JR Tsukamoto or JR Tozai Line Mitejima. From Osaka Station’s west side, Tsukamoto is a short train ride plus the walk. From Namba or Tennoji, the trip is less appealing unless you already have plans in Nishiyodogawa.
The operator lists 11 parking spaces; the association’s older listing says 10. Either way, it is a small lot, so do not count on a space at a busy time. Call 06-6472-2761 to confirm current access or parking details.
Haccho Onsen or Hikari Nozato no Yu?
Haccho has the edge for Sunday morning and a late finish on Tuesday through Saturday. Hikari Nozato no Yu opens later, at 2pm, and closes at midnight, but is the clearer choice if documented natural spring water matters: its association listing identifies an alkaline simple spring from about 800 metres underground. Hikari is also a shorter walk from Tsukamoto and Mitejima—about eight minutes rather than twelve—and lists 11 parking spaces. It has dry and steam saunas; Haccho’s listed sauna is dry.
If neither bath is close to your day’s route, compare the Nishiyodogawa sento guide. For other early-morning and late-night options around the city, see the Osaka early and late bathing guide.
A few things to check before you go
Haccho is listed as runner-friendly and has a baby bed. Those features do not amount to a published large-suitcase storage service, nor do they answer questions about accessible routes through the changing area, diaper-age children in the baths or the age limit for mixed bathing. Contact the bathhouse if one of those details determines whether your group can use it.
Bring a towel and toiletries if you prefer not to buy or rent them. For a short visit, wash first, then choose the main bath or sauna; the 1am closing does not remove the need to check your last train.
Our editorial ratings lean on Haccho’s long opening window and broad sento facilities. The setting and quiet score lower; this is a neighborhood bath, not a scenic retreat.
