Ogonyu in Hirano: A Runner-Friendly Sento with a 10pm Cutoff
Ogonyu has a dry sauna, cold bath and hot and warm tubs near the Yamato River. Kire-Uriwari Station is about 15 minutes away; sauna ends at 10 p.m.
Ogonyu is a neighborhood bathhouse in Uriwari-nishi, not a station-front stop. The Osaka Public Bath Association describes it as a “Runner’s Sento” and lists a dry sauna, cold bath, hot and warm tubs, electric bath, jet bath and seated bath. It has the familiar, practical feel of a local sento rather than a destination spa; the Yamato River area makes more sense as part of a walk or run than as a reason to cross Osaka on its own.
Plan around the 10pm cutoff, not the 10:30 closing time
Ogonyu’s listed hours are 2:30–10:30pm, but the association sets final bathing admission and sauna closing at 10pm. Wednesday is the weekly rest day.
For a sauna visit, arriving around 8:30 or 9pm leaves more room to change and bathe without rushing.
Kire-Uriwari Station on the Tanimachi Line is about a 15-minute walk away according to the current association listing. Older running-sento material gives a shorter estimate, but the walk depends on the route and crossings; allow up to 15 minutes on a first visit. There is no dedicated parking listed, so drivers should expect to use a nearby paid lot.
The 2026 standard adult fare is ¥600; the association lists ¥200 for elementary-school children and ¥100 for preschoolers. The sauna is confirmed, but the association does not publish its current surcharge. A third-party directory still shows an extra charge alongside outdated hours, so treat it only as a rough clue, not the current price. Bring cash and ask at reception.
A simple setup for a post-run stop
The hot and milder tubs give you an option besides the sauna, and the association also lists a rest area, drinks and ice cream. “Runner’s Sento” is a useful designation for people exercising nearby, but it should not be read as a promise of long-term luggage storage. Leave suitcases at your hotel or in a station locker; check with the bathhouse before bringing more than a small running bag.
There is no published spring analysis establishing Ogonyu as a natural hot-spring facility. The word “onsen” in its Japanese name, or the presence of a cold bath and sauna, does not establish the water’s legal classification. The association’s current listing focuses on bathing equipment, not a documented source.
If you need an earlier opening or an easier station walk
If an early start matters, COCOFURO Oomineyu opens at 6am and has newer sauna equipment, though its station walk is still about 12 minutes. Uriwari Onsen is closer to Kire-Uriwari Station and lists two parking spaces. Our Hirano Ward sento guide compares the alternatives by hours, access and facilities.
