Yunogo Sagi Onsenkan: Day-Use Baths, Family Rooms and Prices

Compare Yunogo Sagi Onsenkan and Ryoyo-yu by 2026 prices, bathing facilities, private rooms, water rules and bus access from Hayashino.

Yunogo Sagi Onsenkan is the full-service day-use bathhouse in Yunogo Onsen, one of Okayama’s three Mimasaka hot-spring towns. The main building has indoor and outdoor baths, saunas, rest space and five private family rooms. Next door, the smaller Ryoyo-yu has a different purpose: it is specifically described as free-flowing spring water, but soap and shampoo are not allowed.

For most first-time visitors, the main building is the easier choice. Its adult admission rose to ¥960 on August 1, 2026; children aged three through elementary-school age pay ¥500. Choose Ryoyo-yu if the spring-water setup matters more to you than washing facilities or a sauna.

Main building: a full bathhouse, with a new 2026 price

The public baths are open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., with last admission at 8:20 p.m. The usual closing day is the second Wednesday of each month; if that falls on a public holiday, the facility closes the following day. In August, the regular closure moves to the first Wednesday. Check the operator’s notice before travelling, especially around a holiday.

Admission or serviceCurrent price
Adult public-bath admission¥960
Child, age three through elementary school¥500
Private family bath, one hour¥4,800
Private family bath with an open-air tub, one hour¥5,800
Day-rest plan, adult¥2,400
Day-rest plan, child¥1,500

Older pages may still show ¥800 for an adult bath or ¥4,000 and ¥5,000 for family rooms. Those were the previous rates; the current Okayama tourism listing gives the prices above from August 1, 2026.

The two public bathing areas have different layouts and alternate between men and women. One is centred on a cypress bath, an outdoor bath, jet-style tubs and a sauna. The other has stone baths, a reclining bath, a cave-style bath, Kojiro-no-yu and a sauna. Which one you use depends on the day’s assignment, so check with the facility if a particular bath is important to you.

The main building is the practical pick when you want to wash, use the sauna and spend time in a proper rest area. Current visitor information lists washing facilities and basic amenities, but the revised fare notice does not give a complete current towel price list. Bringing your own small and bath towels avoids relying on older add-on prices.

Private family baths cost more for privacy, not savings

There are five private family rooms on the second floor, with different fittings. Published descriptions include cypress and rock baths, bubble or massage-style features, an open-air option and a room designed for wheelchair access. The features do not come bundled in every room: not every bath has an outdoor tub, and the accessible layout is a specific option.

The published rates are ¥4,800 per hour for a standard room and ¥5,800 for a room with an open-air tub. These prices are substantially more than two ordinary admissions, so the reason to book one is privacy, bathing with young children or care assistance. Confirm the room type and what the quoted fee includes when reserving; the public listing does not spell out every billing detail.

PlanHoursLast reception
Private family baths9 a.m.–8:45 p.m.7:45 p.m.

Ask the facility what bath access is included in the day-rest plan before choosing it over regular admission.

Ryoyo-yu has a different set of rules

Ryoyo-yu sits beside the main building and is often treated as a cheaper alternative. That misses the main distinction. It is a smaller village bath that the current tourism and Yunogo Onsen listings specifically identify as free-flowing spring water. The main building’s public material does not establish that every one of its pools uses the same water arrangement, so the two claims should not be conflated.

Ryoyo-yu detailCurrent listing
Admission¥800 adults; ¥500 children from age zero through elementary school
Day-rest plan¥2,000 adults; ¥1,000 children
Hours / last admission9 a.m.–8 p.m. / 7:30 p.m.
Weekly closureWednesday

There is an important catch: soap and shampoo are prohibited in the bathhouse. Ryoyo-yu is a place to soak, not a substitute for a full wash. If you need to shower and wash your hair, use the main building or your accommodation instead. The main building’s facilities and the smaller village bath solve different needs; paying ¥160 less does not make them interchangeable.

Getting there without a car

The nearest rail stop is Hayashino Station on the JR Kishin Line. From there, take a local bus towards Yunogo Onsen, get off at Yunogo Onsen Shimo and walk about three minutes to the bathhouse. The ride is roughly ten minutes, but rural bus services are limited, so check the current timetable in both directions before committing to a same-day visit.

Yunogo Onsen also advertises a free shuttle from the west exit of Okayama Station for guests staying overnight at participating accommodation. It requires advance reservation and is not for day visitors. This is separate from Uno Bus’s scheduled service: the operator currently marks its Yunogo direct route as suspended, so check its latest notice before relying on that route.

By car, the bathhouse is about ten minutes from Mimasaka Interchange on the Chugoku Expressway. The town lists parking for around 150 standard cars.

For a different kind of Okayama soak, compare the Yubara Onsen day-trip options or visit the Sunayu river bath. Our guides to onsen spring-quality records and bath-water temperatures explain what facility data can—and cannot—tell you about a particular tub.
