Ureshino Onsen Day-Use Baths: Siebold no Yu, Tokai and Hatsuneso
Compare Siebold no Yu’s early public bath, Tokai’s Arita-ware private tubs and Hatsuneso’s tatami baths and family room by hours and rules.
For a quick soak in Ureshino, the choice is between a public bath that opens at 6 a.m., a private outdoor bath booked by the room, and a family-friendly ryokan bath with tatami underfoot. Their prices are not directly comparable: one sells single admissions, while the other two focus on private sessions. Check the day’s opening schedule before setting out, particularly if you are visiting during Siebold no Yu’s current repair work.

Siebold no Yu: the easiest fit for an early start
The municipal bath is open from 6 a.m. and costs ¥450 for adults or ¥220 for elementary-school children. Children below elementary-school age enter free when accompanied by a guardian. It closes on the third Wednesday of each month; if that date is a public holiday, the closure moves to the following day. The Ureshino Bus Centre is about a seven-minute walk away.
Bring your own towel. The city says towels are not rented, and the facility page lists amenity sales rather than towel rental. The public bath is the budget option. Private rooms cost ¥2,500 for 50 minutes, plus ¥100 per adult in bathing tax; each room allows up to five adults.
Three rooms—Himawari, Sakura and the accessible Fuji room—are listed as available. The hinoki rooms Rindou and Sazanka remain suspended for renovation, so check directly before planning around them.
Roof and exterior repairs are scheduled from August 27 to December 15, 2026, while the bath remains open as usual. During the work, the accessible parking space by the entrance cannot be used, construction vehicles come and go nearby, and visitors are asked to keep the bath windows closed. If step-free arrival is essential, call ahead about the parking arrangement before choosing this bath.
Tokai: a clear choice when the bath must be private and outdoors
Tokai has five private outdoor baths made with Arita ware. It is around a three-minute walk from Ureshino Bus Centre.

This is the most straightforward option for two people who want to bathe together outdoors. The quoted rate is for the private bath, not a general public-bath ticket, and reservation availability can limit the choice of time. The Ureshino Onsen Yu-Yu ticket’s current participating-facility list does not include Tokai, so do not assume the pass can be used here.
Hatsuneso: tatami underfoot, but only from mid-afternoon
Both the public baths and the reservable family bath have tatami flooring. That gives Hatsuneso a distinct appeal for families with young children or anyone who feels less steady on a wet, hard floor. The women’s public bath also has a diaper-changing station. Face towels are available to borrow at no charge.
Hatsuneso closes on Mondays and Tuesdays. Its private family bath requires advance booking; the current listing describes it as private, not as an outdoor bath.

Is the Yu-Yu ticket worth buying?
Yu-Yu Ureshino is most useful when visiting several participating baths. Tokai is not on the association’s current participant list.

Plan around the clock, not just the closing time
Siebold no Yu is the only one of these three that works for an early-morning soak. Tokai is the daytime option for a private outdoor bath, while Hatsuneso begins at 3 p.m. and is closed on two weekdays. Last entry is earlier than closing at all three, so leave enough time for the walk back to the bus centre or your onward connection.
