Where to Bathe After the Adachi Museum of Art: Three Baths in Yasugi

Choose a day-use bath after the Adachi Museum of Art by departure time, last bus and bathing style. Compare Chikuyou, Saginoyu-so and Yumeland Shirasagi.

After the Adachi Museum of Art, choose your bath around the way you will leave Yasugi. Chikuyou is almost next door and says every tub uses 100% natural spring water without added water or heating. Saginoyuso has the inn atmosphere and private-bath options, but ordinary day visitors cannot enter from 3 to 6 p.m. Yumeland Shirasagi costs less, has a sauna and stays open until 9 p.m.; it is about an 11-minute walk from the museum.

The key transport cutoff is the museum’s free shuttle to JR Yasugi Station: the current timetable, valid from March 14, 2026 through March 2027, lists a final departure at 5:10 p.m. The museum closes at 5:30 p.m. from April through September, so a bath after closing cannot be combined with that last shuttle.

BathAdult day-useTypical hoursWalk from museumBest reason to choose it
Chikuyou¥70011 a.m.–9 p.m.; Monday from 4 p.m.; no day use ThursdayAbout 30 secondsMinimal detour and a clear all-tubs source-fed policy
Saginoyuso¥1,00012:30–3 p.m. or 6–8:30 p.m.About 1 minuteTraditional inn setting, garden and private baths
Yumeland Shirasagi¥55010 a.m.–9 p.m.; last entry 8:30 p.m.About 11 minutesLowest price, sauna and a longer opening window

The shuttle and local bus do not run on the same clock

The museum’s free shuttle to JR Yasugi Station is a first-come, first-served service with a 25-person limit; reservations are not accepted. The return service from the museum requires a numbered boarding ticket collected at the entrance counter. There is no dedicated luggage storage on the vehicle, and large cases may be refused when it is crowded.

The city’s Yellow Bus is separate from the museum shuttle. From the Saginoyu Onsen–Adachi Museum of Art stop, buses toward Yasugi Station depart at these times:

ServiceDirectionStopDeparturesFare
Yellow BusSaginoyu Onsen–Adachi Museum of Art → Yasugi StationSaginoyu Onsen–Adachi Museum of Art10:04, 10:39, 11:29, 12:28, 14:14, 14:57, 16:23, 17:11¥200; half price for elementary-school children

Do not mistake the museum’s 5:10 p.m. free shuttle for the Yellow Bus’s 5:11 p.m. departure; they are different services with different stops and conditions. For a later soak, check the day’s full timetable or arrange a taxi.

If you leave the museum before 2 p.m., all three baths may fit. Between about 2:30 and 4 p.m., Chikuyou or Yumeland is usually more practical because Saginoyuso’s ordinary-bath window is closed. From 4 to 5:10 p.m., adding a full soak makes the free shuttle risky. If you stay until the museum closes, secure your onward ride before deciding how long to bathe.

Chikuyou is the no-detour choice

Chikuyou stands roughly 30 seconds from the museum. Adult admission is ¥700; children aged four through elementary school pay ¥500. Its operator describes all the baths as 100% natural hot spring water, with no added water, no reheating and source flow. That is the clearest published water-treatment statement among these three facilities.

Regular day-use hours are 11 a.m.–9 p.m., last entry 8:30 p.m. On Mondays, day-use starts at 4 p.m.; Thursdays are not a day-use day. Between 4 and 7 p.m., overnight guests take priority and day access may be declined when busy. If the visit cannot move to Yumeland, check access before leaving the museum.

Saginoyuso has a three-hour gap in the afternoon

Saginoyuso is about a minute from the museum. Regular day bathing has a three-hour afternoon break, so a visit ending between 3 and 6 p.m. will need another bath or a longer wait.

The inn’s English page lists different public-bath hours—11 a.m.–3 p.m. and 6–9 p.m. The current Japanese page gives the schedule above; check with the inn if your arrival is close to last entry.

Yumeland works when you want a sauna or a later finish

Yumeland Shirasagi charges ¥550 for adults and ¥300 for children aged four through elementary school. It is open 10 a.m.–9 p.m., with last entry at 8:30 p.m.; Wednesday is the regular closing day, moving to Thursday when Wednesday is a public holiday. The facility is about an 11-minute walk from the museum. The Yellow Bus stop “Yumeland-mae” is only about a minute away, which can make it a useful choice if you are leaving by bus.

The public facility has an outdoor bath and sauna. Its pool-and-bath zone currently opens on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays; it reopened in May 2026. Yumeland does not publish its source temperature or bath-by-bath treatment details. Figures for the wider Saginoyu Onsen area are not Yumeland measurements.

For another Shimane bathing area, compare this stop with the Izumo and Matsue day-use onsen guide or the Tamatsukuri Onsen guide. At Yasugi, though, the return ride should decide the order: bathing proximity matters less once the last bus has gone.
